Speaking prior to tonight's games, Bristol City's assistant head coach Dean Holden told BBC Radio Bristol:

"It is a chance for us to try and put some pressure on the two teams above us, playing on Friday night before they do.

"We're fully aware it is a big game for us but we're not putting any more pressure on ourselves than the players put on themselves every game.

"It will be two teams who are quite similar and both play similar types of football. It'll be a fantastic atmosphere."

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has said he was disappointed with his side's performance in their 3-1 defeat at Millwall last week.

The Blades dropped to fourth in the table after a third game without a win.

"I expect my team to perform and there is no bigger supporter of the club than me," he told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"We're coming off a loss and I don't care if this game is on tv or on a parks pitch, I want us to go and win.

"Regardless of the opposition in front of us our standards are set and we keep pushing the bar up. When we fall below it I will be disappointed and I was."

Sheffield United v Bristol City (19:45 GMT)

Sheffield United make three changes, as defender George Baldock (hamstring) returns and keeper Simon Moore and captain Billy Sharp also come back in to the side.

Bristol City, who are without Famara Diedhiou (knee), winger Callum O'Dowda (ankle), full-back Eros Pisano (hamstring) and midfielders Jens Hegeler and Gary O'Neil (both knee), make just one change.

Winger Eliasson replaces defender Hordur Magnusson, and that sees Joe Bryan switch back to left-back.

Sheff Utd XI: Moore, Baldock, O'Connell, Stearman, Stevens, Duffy, Fleck, Lundstram, Basham, Sharp, Clarke.

Subs: Blackman, Carter-Vickers, Wright, Donaldson, Lavery, Brooks, Carruthers.

Bristol City XI: Fielding, Wright, Baker, Flint, Bryan, Brownhill, Pack, Smith, Eliasson, Paterson, Reid.

Subs: Steele, Magnusson, Vyner, Leko, Djuric, Woodrow, Taylor.

Hello, and welcome to tonight's live EFL coverage on BBC Sport.

We have a mouth-watering encounter in store between fourth-placed Sheffield United and third-placed Bristol City - the first time these two sides have met since the 2014-15 season in League One.

Tonight they are level with one another on 37 points, but Chris Wilder's United have taken just one point from their past three games, while City have won five of their past seven including back-to-back wins over Hull and Middlesbrough.

With both clubs six points off the automatic promotion places, a win for either side could be a huge advantage going into the busy Christmas period - although I'm sure second-placed Cardiff City and leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers will be hoping for a draw.
