So how will that red card for Sheffield United impact on this game as we head towards the final quarter of this match?

With both sides six points behind second place going into tonight's match if either side can go on and win it could be massive for them - although Wolves and Cardiff fans are no doubt hoping for a draw!

  5. Postpublished at 62 mins

    Sheffield United 1-1 Bristol City

Leon Clarke stings the hands of Frank Fielding with a powerful effort from the edge of the box after Billy Sharp's lay-off.

United aren't going to let the man disadvantage affect them if they can help it.

John Fleck is off. The Sheffield United midfielder goes in two-footed above the ball and into the leg of Korey Smith. He can't really have any complaints there, it looked quite nasty.

Bristol City substitute Milan Djuric sticks his arm into the face of United's Jack O'Connell and the big striker goes into the book.

Mark Duffy hits the post from the edge of the box - the second time he's done that tonight for the Blades.

On the rebound Billy Sharp blasts an effort straight into the face of Aden Flint - how the City defender is on his feet I don't know.

    Sheffield United 1-1 Bristol City

Leon Clarke peels away from his marker at the back post as the cross comes in from the left, but he heads it down into the ground and up into Fielding's arms.

Not sure this half-time substitution by Bristol City boss Lee Johnson has had the desired effect so far.....

Well the Blades are starting to take it to City now. Great chance for a second as Basham plays a ball into the area, but the visitors deal with it.

  12. goal

GOAL Sheffield United 1-1 Bristol Citypublished at 47 mins

    Leon Clarke

Leon Clarke almost breaks the net as United equalise.

The striker picks the ball up on the right after a lovely ball from midfield. He cuts inside, fronts up with Baker in the box and pulverises it past Frank Fielding. There was no way he was stopping that.

Last weekend's Championship action concluded with the leaders Wolves re-opening their 10-point gap on tonight's two sides on Monday night, with a 1-0 win at local rivals Birmingham City.

Leo Bonatini got the only goal early on in a game that Nuno Espirito Santo's side should have won more comfortably.

The Blues rarely troubled the Wolves defence - they failed to get a single shot on target in the entire game - and remain in the relegation places.

While they take a breather at Bramall Lane, here's some other football news for you.

Eight Premier League games will be played in a new 19:45 slot on Saturdays under the terms of a new broadcast package from the 2019-20 season.

Broadcasters will bid for rights to show 200 live matches, more than 50% of the league's 380 games and an increase on the current deal's 168.

The new package will also allow successful bidders to broadcast rounds of midweek matches in their entirety.

It will replace the existing record £5.136bn TV deal struck in 2015.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2017

    Sheffield United 0-1 Bristol City

Well what an exciting end to that first half.

United hit the woodwork three times, but it's Jamie Paterson's excellent strike just before the break - and against the run of play - that gives the visitors the lead.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 43 mins

    Sheffield United 0-1 Bristol City

In the build-up to the goal United's Enda Stevens barges Smith over. The referee let play go on and the advantage certainly worked for City. But Stevens is booked after the goal.

What a strike! He couldn't have caught it any more sweetly.

I'm not entirely sure City deserve it, but their fans won't care. They're enjoying themselves.
