With 15:00 GMT fast approaching, here's the pick of the team news from the Championship...

    • As managers attempt to freshen things up during the hectic festive period, there are a total of 50 personnel changes across our nine afternoon games in the Championship.
    • Norwich have made more changes than any other team - six in total - while Derby and Bolton each make five.
    • Fulham and Brentford are the only Championship clubs to name an unchanged side from Boxing Day.
    • Sunderland boss Chris Coleman hands a first start to Josh Maja, the teenager who scored the winning goal when the Black Cats ended their year-long wait for a home win against Fulham.

Having watched his new side from the stands as they beat Bolton on Boxing Day, Tony Pulis will take charge of Middlesbrough for the first time against Aston Villa today.

The 59-year-old, who won promotion to the Premier League during his time at Stoke, is hoping to replicate that success at the Riverside.

"It's a very similar area in lots of respects," Pulis told BBC Tees. "The people are very passionate about their club.

"They have very big similarities, so I'm just hoping and praying that I get the opportunity and chance to do what I did at Stoke."

Leon Clarke's had an alright 2017 on the pitch, hasn't he?

Having won promotion from League One in May, the Sheffield United forward is the Championship's top goalscorer, owing largely to a bonkers return of nine goals in four games during November.

And now he's enjoyed some good news off the pitch too, with the Blades handing the 32-year-old a new contract until the summer of 2020.

"Chris Wilder spoke to me a couple of weeks ago about extending my contract and when he approached me it was an easy decision to make," said Clarke., external

    Your team's moment of 2017

Whether it's been a 12 months to remember or forget for your club, we'd prefer to end 2017 on a high by trying to keep things as positive as we can today.

Therefore, we'd like to hear about your team's moment of the year. Was it the goal that clinched promotion? The big win over your local rivals? Or perhaps the sensational last-minute winner by Korey Smith to knock Manchester United out of the EFL Cup?

I've probably been a bit niche with that last one, to be fair. Nonetheless, send your entries to us by using #bbcefl on Twitter.

But where there are winners there are inevitably losers and, I'm sorry to say, Birmingham City and Sunderland fans will probably want to look away now.

The two clubs have won only 13 league games between them in 2017 and both face the prospect of ending the year bottom of the table.

It's been a tough 12 months for Hull, too, having come down from the Premier League and now finding themselves in 19th, while Reading have had to endure a play-off final loss and a tricky start to the season which sees them in 17th.

It seems an obvious thing to say that the teams currently occupying the top six have had years to remember but, for different reasons, some of them truly have.

Having lifted the League One title in May, Sheffield United have taken the Championship by storm and only a small recent dip has seen them fall to sixth - a position I'm sure they'd have taken in August.

Wolves and Cardiff - top and third respectively - have each recorded 85 points in 2017, more than any other team to spend the whole of the year in the second tier.

And Bristol City, who nine months ago were spiralling towards relegation, are now second and in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup. Not a bad turnaround, as turnarounds go.

Bristol City v Wolves (17:30 GMT)

Once we're done and dusted with our 15:00 GMT matches, it's probably fitting that the final English Football League fixture of 2017 will be at Ashton Gate.

In what promises to be one of the games of the season so far, Bristol City host Wolves in a battle of the Championship's top two.

If it's anything like the return fixture at Molineux - which ended 3-3 - we should be in for an absolute cracker.
