Substitute Joselu scored within four minutes of coming on to earn Newcastle United a draw against bottom side Swansea City.

The visitors, who were denied a first-half penalty when Mohamed Diame appeared to handle the ball, took the lead through Jordan Ayew's header after Karl Darlow had parried his first effort.

But Newcastle equalised eight minutes later when Ayoze Perez's deflected shot fell for Joselu and he shot through the legs of Alfie Mawson and into the net.

Swansea are now four points behind 17th-placed Bournemouth, while Newcastle are now only three points above the relegation zone in 14th.

The Swans nearly grabbed a dramatic winner in injury time but Wilfried Bony's shot was cleared off the goalline by Newcastle's DeAndre Yedlin.

Former Republic of Ireland winger on Final Score

I think Joselu is just onside there - Swansea were just a bit passive there - they've got to get themselves in front and they've got to defend better. But saying that - it's a great finish from Joselu - he's squeezed it through the defender's legs from a tight angle.

And we are level. Ayoze Perez chases on to a ball over the top, his shot is deflected and falls into the path of Joselu, who had only just come on as a substitute. He shoots low, through the legs of Alfie Mawson and into the net. Now we have a game on.

Some changes. Dwight Gayle is off and Joselu on for Newcastle.

Mike van der Hoorn, who created the goal with a fine cross from the right wing, appears to have injured himself doing so and he is now replaced, with Connor Roberts making his league debut.

    Jordan Ayew

A lovely cross from the right wing by Mike van der Hoorn is met by Jordan Ayew and his header produces a stunning one-handed save by Karl Darlow.

But the Newcastle goalkeeper needs a bit of luck, but he doesn't get it and Ayew heads in the rebound. Bottom of the table Swansea are winning.

Dwight Gayle looks to be in a bit of injury bother. He is limping. Not exactly what Newcastle, struggling for goals, need.

I mentioned poor quality. We have just had a foul throw. In the Premier League.
