It is one of the poorest matches I've seen this season.

A sliced clearance by Ciaran Clark hits Jamaal Lascelles and Swansea have a rare corner.

Oliver McBurnie meets the corner at the near post and flicks it on, but none of his team-mates are in the right position to tap home the loose ball.

Sloppy from Swansea as Sam Clucas gives it away to Ayoze Perez 35 yards from the Swansea goal. Perez plays it through to Dwight Gayle, but the striker pulls his effort just past the post.

Newcastle have had the best chances, but Swansea should have had a penalty after Mohamed Diame's handball. But it is 0-0 at the break.

Kyle Bartley gets on the end of that Ki Sung-yueng corner, but the header from the Swansea captain is misguided and over the bar.

Swansea suffered from a bad offside call the other week against Spurs when Fernando Llorente scored against them, but on this occasion the official has got it right and it's disallowed. The lineswoman did very well because Dwight Gayle is definitely offside.

The ball is in the net, but Dwight Gayle's header from a corner is ruled out for offside to end the home celebrations.

Swansea appeal for a penalty for a handball by Mohamed Diame after Mike van der Hoorn flicked the ball goalwards following an Oliver McBurnie header down from that corner.

And Diame is an extremely lucky man as the replay shows he moved his arm towards the ball, and the ball did then hit that arm.

Ki Sung-yeung shoots at goal for Swansea but it is blocked and Mike van der Hoorn's follow-up cross bounces off Paul Dummett away for the visitors' first corner of the afternoon.

A great opportunity, it couldn't have been any closer to being a penalty as the free-kick was right on the edge of the box. Jonjo Shelvey, against his former club, steps up, only to send it well over the top. An absolute waste from a glorious position. We remain, unsurprisingly, goalless.

Free-kick to Newcastle, right on the edge of the area. Christian Atsu is sent crashing after being sandwiched by Kyle Bartley and Sam Clucas.

Half-hour in and you can see why Swansea have only scored 13 goals in 21 Premier League games. They have offered very little going forward. Karl Darlow has not got his gloves dirty yet.

And the Newcastle chances keep coming and they keep going. Ayoze Perez collects a ball over the top of the Swansea defence from Matt Ritchie and Perez is through on goal with only the goalkeeper to beat.

But Lukasz Fabianski does well to stay on his feet for as long as possible and parry the Perez effort from a tight angle. It eventually goes for a corner, but it is another waste.

Christian Atsu is looking lively, and Newcastle are having some success down the left flank. This time a step-over and charge leaves Mike van der Hoorn flagging and Atsu sends in a low cross from the byeline.

It finds Paul Dummett on the edge of the six-yard box but he gets under the ball and skies it over the bar. That should have been a goal.

Are Newcastle going to pay the price for their failure to convert these chances?
