Newcastle have to win it. Ever since the Man City game, Rafa Benitez put a lot of pressure on himself to pick up some wins. At home, they have to turn over Swansea.

I watched the Brighton game and it was like watching two Championship sides. If they stay up, it’ll be because there’s three worse teams.

The atmosphere was electric at the start of the season but it’s evaporated.

  3. How they standpublished at 14:37 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2018

This is how things stand in the Premier League and Newcastle could end the day in the top half if they win and other results go their way.

But Swansea will definitely be in the bottom three at the end of the day, although they will move off the bottom of the table if they better West Brom's result in their home game against Brighton.

Swansea only name four of the side that drew 0-0 at Wolves last week, with Mike van der Hoorn, Nathan Dyer, Martin Olsson and Kyle Bartley keeping their places. Alfie Mawson, linked with a move to either West Ham or Watford starts, but Wilfried Bony drops to the bench.

Leroy Fer is also among the substitutes after his red card against Wolves was rescinded. Renato Sanches (hamstring) and Tammy Abraham (hip) are not in the squad.

Swansea: Fabianski, van der Hoorn, Mawson, Bartley, Dyer, Clucas, Ki, Carroll, Olsson, Ayew, McBurnie. Subs: Bony, Fer, Narsingh, Nordfeldt, Fernandez, Roque, Roberts.

  6. Can Carvalhal save Swansea?published at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2018

These are desperate times for Swansea.

Bottom of the table, and no sides has scored fewer goals in the Premier League this season.

Carlos Carvalhal is the man who has been appointed to get them out of trouble and they have already had an away success under him with a dramatic win at Watford at the end of December.

But they face a tough task today as they are away at a Newcastle side that have won two of their past four league matches.
