"We've been working hard on this formation and today we've put everything right and come up with a fantastic performance tonight.

"We knew Chelsea had weaknesses with their back line so we targeted one side.

    Everton 2-1 Leicester

    Leicester City

  5. 'We could not find a way to hurt them'published at 22:36 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

    Man City 3-0 West Brom

    West Bromwich Albion

Alan Pardew, speaking to MOTD: "We had one or two senior players missing tonight which was crucial for us. We could not find a way to hurt them.

"I thought our two strikers did really well tonight, as our keeper did. Daniel Sturridge is a poacher, he almost scored. He will hopefully be a big player we just want to keep him fit. If we can we have really nice options up front. There is not often we will come up against quality like this tonight.

"Manchester City were outstanding at times tonight. As a manager I just said to the players hopefully we don't meet them too often.

"We know we have the quality to get out of trouble, we just need a little bit of luck, get the goals at the right times and have good game management."

  6. 'It was like having a new player'published at 22:32 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

    Everton 2-1 Leicester

    Everton

Sam Allardyce speaking to BBC Sport: “A new partnership is born, the Theo Walcott and Seamus Coleman down the right, that combination was really good.

“Theo was very unfortunate not to get a hat-trick and Oumar Niasse could have had a hat-trick.

“The nerves started jangling when we conceded the penalty and we had good fortune they hit the post – it would have been a crushing blow if they had equalised. This is a really big win after the run we have had.

On Walcott: “He has got something to prove and this is a big transfer at this time of his career. He has started to pay us back immediately.”

On Coleman’s return: “It was like having a new player, he is the example of a perfect professional and someone for every youngster at Everton to look up to. He has been out for months and plays like that, imagine what he will be like when he is match fit – it’s scary.”

  7. 'I am pleased we are in the race for the top four'published at 22:29 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

"The first goal was a fantastic goal. Christian Eriksen believed that it would arrive in this situation. We tell the young players to always anticipate.

"I am so pleased we are in the race for the top four.

"There's a lot of games to play and that is why we need to stay focused.

"The early goal for us was good so that we can go on and dominate the game. That goal gave us more confidence and belief.

"Dele Alli was very good today, but all the team was great. The quality of performance was fantastic.

"It'll be tough against Liverpool now because they are one of the best teams - but it's about taking it one game at a time."

  10. 'We enjoyed that a lot'published at 22:21 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

    Chelsea 0-3 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We enjoyed that a lot, to come here and win 3-0 is huge for us. We had the work ethic, we pressed high and gave them no time on the ball which we did very well and that set us off.

"I think we tried to press high and not let them play out and it worked well, we had a few chances and that did set us off. We had to defend a bit but for the second half we started again.

On his goal: "I saw the shot coming and just went for the rebound and luckily it came in front of me and I could put it away. I had good time at this club so it was a bit strange but now I'm a Bournemouth player and I'm just happy that I scored for Bournemouth.

On a rare clean sheet: "We're really proud, it's what we needed, the last few months we had no clean sheet so to do that here is a big plus.

"It gives us confidence, the last few games we were getting more and more [confident] and so we have to keep this going against Stoke on Saturday."

    Man City 3-0 West Brom

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola: "Nice performance, top performance, deserved to win. Three more points.

"All the season Kevin de Bruyne has played an outstanding level. If one of the best players run and right like Kevin does the rest follow him."

"I just had a nice chat with the official. We have a different opinion, I understand what they say but I disagree. I said what I said, insisting the same. It is what it is. We can have different opinions but in the end always respect for what they do."

The gap between first and second is now the same as the gap between seventh and the bottom of the table. Insane!

    Dominic

A silver lining from Chelsea's grey clouded performance. Hudson-Odoi looks to be a real talent. Hopefully the lack of signings will give the academy players a chance on the pitch.

  16. 'Our best performance'published at 22:10 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

    Chelsea 0-3 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I think that has to be our best result and the best performance in getting the result. We had to be at our best against Chelsea and everyone was magnificent.

"Our aggressiveness, our work-rate was spot on. It was a game of few chances but we deserved the scoreline in the end. We were desperate for a clean sheet, the last few stages were difficult to watch as the lads tired and we just wanted to get those three points and secure the clean sheet.

"It’s not a statement to other teams as such but more for ourselves, we’ve beaten Arsenal and Chelsea recently so if we needed any more belief then that has to come now."

  17. 'No excuses'published at 22:10 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

    Chelsea 0-3 Bournemouth

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I think they deserve to win the game and I'm right to say this, they deserve to win the game and we tried to do something but today it was very difficult for us even in the first half when the result was 0-0, I think we struggled a lot.

"[We struggled] for many reasons, but it's not important to speak about excuses, they deserve to win and we need to restart to work and to do our best. We have to accept it's a bad result and understand that we have to fight this season, if someone didn’t understand this they don’t understand football. Football is not simple.

On losing Christensen early: "I don’t think this affected the defence or the team, in other circumstances we play in same way and win, I repeat today is a bad day and they deserve to win and we have to accept result and bad mistakes.

On transfer window and Olivier Giroud: "In the past with a striker we have chances and still don’t score. I think now is not the right moment to speak of the transfer market for me. It's not important, it's important to work and do best with my players."

  18. Mourinho: 'Both goals were ridiculous goals'published at 22:09 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

    Tottenham 2-0 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho speaking to BBC's MOTD: "It's a performance that starts with a ridiculous goal. That goal after a few seconds has a big influence in the game because Tottenham can play the way they like to play.

"In the end we played against a very good team. Both goals were ridiculous goals.

"The first goal is an accumulation of mistakes inspite of the fact that everything happened so fast. My players have watched the Tottenham kick-off many, many times.

"It was a really, really bad goal.

"After the first goal the team had a good reaction - we were there and tried to create.

"The second goal mentally kills the team.

"A team to win matches needs to score goals and also defend well - on this occasion we were very bad.

On Marouane Fellaini's short contribution: "He came off because he had something in his knee. Unlucky for him and unlucky for me. He came on with enthusiasm, but he has an injury in his ligament."

  19. 'We showed we can beat the top teams'published at 22:00 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

    Tottenham 2-0 Man Utd

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier talking to BT Sport: "One of our criticisms is slow starts - it's [a fast start] something we wanted to do.

"We were in control of the game from beginning to end. We pressed them and didn't give them any time and that's where the second goal came from."

Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen talking to BT Sport on his side challenging for a top-four spot: "With the win today we showed we can beat the top teams. We have some big games coming up, but it's a very good start."

It's been an unbelievable evening for Spurs.

Before the game I thought it would be end to end, but from the start United have got worse and worse and just shrunk into themselves.

Spurs have been dominant all over the park, it's been that brilliant it's hard to pick out a single player.

Manchester United lacked a competitive nature and Mourinho got it wrong.

Lingard would be sacrificed for a midfield that would protect Smalling and Jones, giving Pogba chance to go forward.

They were wide open and Tottenham just enjoyed themselves.
