To play to the whistle and that they could be booked if they aggressively ask the referee to seek help from VAR.

Opponents of VAR suggest it will upset the flow of the game, but it will normally be used during stoppages in play and limited to four types of match-changing incidents:

    • Goals
    • Penalties
    • Straight red cards
    • Mistaken identity

Furthermore, it is only to be used where there has been a clear and obvious error made by the referee or his two on-field assistants.

So, for example, if an offside goal is given, the VAR will contact the referee via an audio link and tell him to reverse that decision as soon as possible.

Unfortunately for Palace the changes they have made are big changes, they are the ones that make the difference. Benteke and Zaha.

I am not surprised given how many injuries they have, but having said that, Brighton looks like a well balanced team and there is enough in all of these squads where they can put out good sides, and on paper it looks like two evenly matched sides and I am expecting a good game.

Luke Price: Huddersfield away in the fourth round. Was hoping for a good cup run. Who knows though.

Uzzy Fiaz: Repeat of the 2015 third round tie when Herrera and Di Maria were on the scoresheet... it's been a long time.

Using VAR in last stages of Carabao Cup is not fair on teams that were already affected by bad decisions!!

    Kenny from Isle of Wight

Football is too low scoring a game for VAR, it'll absolutely kill the atmosphere in grounds. Imagine having to hold off on every celebration through fear of it being disallowed? Then the moment's gone.

Once you bring goal line technology in, you have to bring the rest in.

The problem now is where does it end?

I think they've got a happy medium at this stage but it will be interesting to see how it's implemented.

Spare a thought for poor Kathryn Lichaj in the aftermath of Nottingham Forest's FA Cup heroics against Arsenal.

Her husband Eric became a Forest hero as his two goals helped secure a shock 4-2 victory against the cup holders at the City Ground.

The USA international has been longing for a dog for some time, and they even had a deal - he scores a hat-trick and he gets a dog.

Two goals obviously do not make a hat-trick, but now Forest team-mates and fans have joined in Eric's crusade - leaving Kathryn with something of a conundrum.

"I've got pictures of dogs being sent to me, a hashtag going #GetEricADog and everyone saying he deserves one," Kathryn told BBC Radio Nottingham.

"We're watching the highlights on Match of the Day, I'm really proud of him watching the goals over again and he's still bringing up pictures of dogs.

"He will go to bed and get pictures of dogs up and work out which is best for a family. It was starting to do my head in, so I said if you get a hat-trick we'll make a deal and you can have a dog.

"I thought, I'm safe here, we're not going to have a dog."
