They've just come down a notch Brighton and Palace have come up a notch. A more even game than the first half, still no cutting edge.

Oumar Niasse is up for sale for £13m apparently everyone. Get him in! Absolute chaos up front. He'd liven this game up. Palace having a little spell of pressure but it ends with a cross sliced behind for a goal kick.

  4. Both teams want Niassepublished at 20:57 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2018

Everton striker Oumar Niasse is expected to be the latest name to leave Goodison Park in a transfer window clear-out - with summer signings Davy Klaassen and Sandro also potential high-profile departures. Ross Barkley has already gone to Chelsea in a £15m deal while Kevin Mirallas has returned to former club Olympiakos on loan. Niasse, who has scored six goals this season, could well be next with the Senegalese striker wanted by Brighton and Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion. He almost signed for Palace on transfer deadline day in August only for the deal to collapse at the last minute and now Brighton and West Bromwich Albion are also looking at the 27-year-old to add attacking threat.

Sullay Kaikai is playing up front for Palace alongside Bakary Sako. I imagine an attacker is on Roy Hodgson's radar.

To all those moaning about low attendance at Brighton - Palace match you can blame Southern Rail for their strike tonight - not lack of interest.

    Iain, Hove

Football finally drags itself into the new century. VAR, TMO. Call them what you like, they get decisions correct, and if they cut out the play acting and diving I might start watching football again.

Trevor Shanahan: Most boring cup game in third round.....looks like they’ve forgotten how to put a cup tackle in and they call this a derby?

BV: Hands up if you're only watching on the off chance that VAR is used and currently experiencing severe self loathing as a result.

Okafor Izuchukwu: I see Palace coming from behind to settle for a 2-2 draw, they need to come back strong in the second half if they are to stand a chance against a strong Brighton side.

Another cross from the left wing from Brighton, allowed to come over by Palace again, and Solly March leans back and skies a shot into the stands. Half a chance!

Michael Ghianni-Wilkinson: I hate that clubs don’t take the fa cup seriously but when Brighton can’t get more than roughly 10 fans to show up to a Cup game against their biggest rivals then we can’t really complain

No hard luck stories tonight is there? The right team is leading. Not by a lot but by enough. On the evidence of what we've seen it's just about right. It's a little bit low key isn't it? We want a bit more tempo, a bit more urgency from this game.
