Dundee manager Neil McCann is unsure about the extent of the injury to defender Josh Meekings, who was forced off after a heavy tackle on Celtic winger Jonny Hayes.

"He is on a set of crutches, so that is never a good sign, but hopefully that is only precautionary," McCann told BBC Radio Scotland.

"Josh took a really sore one on the top of his foot. I am hoping Jonny is OK as well. It was just one of those challenges - full steam ahead from both players.

"I felt the game should have been stopped immediately, with the noise of it, and Jonny's reaction suggested it was a bad one. But, as long as both players are OK, I won't gripe about that."

McCann admitted there were few positives his side could take away from the game.

"It was disappointing in terms of what we have been doing with the players," he added. "We were a bit too tentative and too often took the easy option - going sideways when we needed a bit more cutting edge.

"We started to trust our game a bit after the first goal, but then we gave away a really sloppy second goal.

"There was no great belief that we could get back into it in the second half."

Defeat by Celtic means Dundee miss a chance to move above Hamilton into ninth place in the Premiership.

Partick Thistle and bottom side Ross County could both move above the Dark Blues if they win their games in hand tomorrow night.

However, Thistle have a hard task away to second-top Aberdeen, while County face a St Johnstone side on a run of three straight wins outside Perth.

Speaking ahead of kick-off at Dens Park, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers played down reports suggesting there had been an approach from Brighton for striker Moussa Dembele.

"Dundee have shown up against some of the bigger opponents they put in strong performances," he told BBC Radio Scotland.

"We scored very good goals, great passing and we opened them up with numbers and finished very well.

"The response to the defeat by Hearts has been excellent.

We always knew it was going to be difficult against Dundee, but we had some outstanding performances from the players.

"I think we are looking pretty good - fit and strong and focused, which is important at this time of the year."

Rodgers is hopeful that the injury to winger Jonny Hayes will not be as bad as first feared.

"He will go for an x-ray, but hopefully he is okay," he added.

"It was a really sore one and he doesn't go down easily, but the medical team is saying it might only be bruising on the shin."

Livi lead at the break as they chase the three points that would take them above Queen of the South into third place in the Championship with a game in hand over the Dumfries outfit.

This was a comfortable afternoon for Celtic with the points earned mainly in the first half, when their all-round display was excellent at times.

They were hungry, incisive and clinical. The level dropped as the game wore on, which afforded Dundee one or two chances, but the result was never in doubt.

Three wins on the trot for the first time since September. Celtic seem to be pushing on with their latest title quest.
