You could hear a pin drop here in the stand at Rodney Parade, but for their effort in this second half Spurs deserve it. Newport have been hanging on for a while now but can they hold on for the replay?

If they can hold out until the end of the game it would still be a huge result, yes the crowd have gone quiet, but the big picture is they now want to get that replay.

    Newport County 1-0 Tottenham

    John Hartson

Newport just have to dig in now for these last 10 minutes, it's all there for you, Newport, to get yourselves into that draw tomorrow, they just need to hang on.

1964 was the last time Newport County defeated a top-flight side in the FA Cup. They couldn't, could they?

    Newport 1-0 Tottenham

What a performance this is by Newport, epitomised by their captain Joss Labadie, who has been a bulldozer in midfield.

Just over 10 minutes to go and Spurs look like they have run out of ideas.

If Newport do hang on, the raucous, deafening support of the ten thousand crammed into Rodney Parade will have played a major part. Spurs are dominating but the bobbly pitch isn’t helping and neither is County’s admirable fitness and intensity.

Neil Clayton: Amazing effort from Newport County! I hope I'm wrong, but I've got a feeling an equaliser is not far away.

It's the one thing everyone is throwing at Pochettino and this Spurs team - when are they going to win something?

They're a great team with great players but if they go out today, out of the League Cup too, these questions of when will they start winning trophies will just keep on coming.

You get the impression that fervent first-half display took a lot out of Newport's players.

They haven't played with quite the same energy and tenacity since the restart, while Spurs have been much better.

The home crowd still believe - roaring on every Newport touch - but the visitors' improvement looks ominous for the Exiles.

What a glorious chance that was for Harry Kane, for a player of his quality not to hit the target from that position - I can't believe what I've just seen!
