Now Bolton have something to hold onto, this could be very trick for Bristol City. Already Wanderers have retreated into their own half, allowing the visitors to play 10 yards further up the field.

All that said, 14 minutes is a long time to hold on...

Straight from the restart, the Robins win a corner, but Aden Flint's header is easily saved by Ben Alnwick.

Phil Parkinson is the first manager to make a move, bringing Zach Clough on for his second debut in place of fellow Nottingham Forest loanee Tyler Walker.

It does little to disrupt City's rhythm, however, as they win another free-kick deep in enemy territory...

Goon: That was an absolutely blatant penalty. Shocking decision. Goalkeepers get far too much protection nowadays. Get away with anything. Fairly sure they wouldn't get punished for punching someone in the box these days.

That's by far and away Bristol City's best chance of the match.

Korey Smith strides forward and delivers a perfect cross for Famara Diedhiou, but Ben Alnwick parries his cross away and David Wheater does brilliantly to get to the rebound before Bobby Reid.

Bristol City are bossing the ball, as they did in the first half, but there's just no real tempo to the match.

Bolton midfielder Karl Henry does his best to spice things up a bit by playing a dodgy backpass to Ben Alnwick, who has to scamper off his line to hack clear.

Jamie Paterson wriggles his way through down the right and wins a corner for the away side.

Joe Bryan's delivery to the far post picks out towering centre-half Aden Flint, but he can only direct his header off target when he perhaps should have gone back across goal.

And the hosts win an early corner. Earlier in the move that led up to it, Aden Flint's a bit lucky not to concede a free-kick for a late arial challenge on Sammy Ameobi.

City get the set-piece clear.

That's us for the first half.

There's not been a huge amount to write home about in the way of chances, so the main half-time talking point will probably be the early challenge by Ben Alnwick and Bristol City's Bobby Reid.

Penalty or no penalty? Well, it certainly looked a great deal more like a spot kick than the free-kick against Reid that the referee actually gave.
