The forward run of Eden Hazard - you're not stopping him there. That move just felt too easy for me. It was too easy for Pedro to turn and find his strike partner. A very cool finish.

Arsenal are carved open like the Sunday roasting joint.

It is delicious dot-to-dot passing from Chelsea as Tiemoue Bakayoko picks out Pedro in the hole and the Spaniard slips in Eden Hazard.

Laurent Koscielny, who was caught in two minds as to whether to close down Pedro or stick with his man, can't make up the ground and Eden Hazard toe-pokes home under the diving David Ospina.

  3. Expert trappublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2018

    Jermaine Jenas
Former Tottenham midfielder at Emirates Stadium

It's a fantastic line from Arsenal and they played the offside trap perfectly. They squeeze at the right time but it's close for Chelsea.

Chelsea seem a little bit more comfortable in these early stages.

  4. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 5 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

Cesar Azpilicueta supplies the precision ball in and Pedro buries the header.

It is a connection as sweet and slick as a Swiss timepiece - ALMOST. They are a milisecond out.

Pedro had strayed a fraction beyond the back foot of an Arsenal defender.

Offside. The linesman called it and doubtless Michael Oliver had it confirmed by VAR.

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

Not across the face of your own goal!

Alex Iwobi picks the pocket of Victor Moses down by his own corner flag, but then attempts a ludicrous ball to Jack Wilshere that puts his team in a whole load of bother.

    Shot just wide from Chelsea.

  7. Ospina given a chancepublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2018

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

    Jermaine Jenas
Former Tottenham midfielder at Emirates Stadium

Arsene Wenger sees David Ospina as a top goalkeeper who needs the games. He's featured heavily in the Europa League and it's good that Wenger has stuck with him. We'll see what happens if they reach the final.

  8. Postpublished at 1 min

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

Arsenal fans are giving it some decibels now that the pre-match show has been silenced.

Their team knock it around midfield confidently.

Chelsea steal possession but Cesar Azpilicueta's ball forward comes to nothing.

  9. 'Something has got to give'published at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2018

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

I think this is going to be a brilliant game and we're going to have lots of goals. The last game at Stamford Bridge didn't deliver. Semi-finals can be tentative at times and Arsenal did well to come away with a 0-0 result. Something has got to give tonight. Chelsea's front three could cause a lot of problems.

    Arsenal v Chelsea (20:00 GMT)

The house lights have been dimmed at the Emirates Stadium.

The Prodigy is blasting out the tannoy.

Those big Arsenal flags are twirling down by the pitchside.

Laurent Koscielny and Cesar Azpilicueta are at the head of the two queues in the tunnel.

    Kick-off is incoming.

    Arsenal v Chelsea (20:00 GMT)

It's fair to say that the introduction of VAR to English football hasn't been entirely smooth. Arsenal have kindly put an explanation on the big screen inside the Emirates ahead of the game. I wonder if they can prepare a slide on Uefa Nations League for us as well.

Antonio Conte: Chelsea can't compete with Man Utd and Man City in terms of transfer fees

    Henry Winter
Chief Football Writer for the Times

Chelsea can compete against the Manchester clubs if they promote some of their fantastic academy players. They're not exactly sat begging on Fulham Road. They've got the money there. But why should they spend when they've got the talent within?

Ah, this is one to savour. Not! One of the great English football fixtures - Arsenal v Chelsea. In the league cup semi final, a cup competition steep in history. Should be enthralling. But with one solitary Englishman (Wilshere) in the starting line up of either side. I feel totally disconnected from the modern game - especially from the top 6 teams.

This is the canny choice. Lower-profile player = less competition+ more novelty value for the target.

Eden Hazard had better get his reading glasses out.

The Chelsea kingpin handed his shirt, external over to a fan with a sign asking for it in the weekend's win over Brighton.

It's worth a pop from the young lad. I'd want to see proof of his date of birth though.
