Sheedh: Such tackles are not accepted in football. If you can't protect players from such tackles then why do even have referees.

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock on Joe Bennett's dismissal: "It is unprofessional from Joe and then to commit one in the 92nd minute. Maybe he does not want to go to Leeds on Saturday.

"He will be training morning, noon and night, I can tell you that."

Pep Guardiola speaking to BBC Sport addressed Joe Bennett's challenge on Leroy Sane: "You have to protect the players, I do not understand the goal [being disallowed] but that I can accept.

"But the referees have to protects the players and not just my players, all players. Where there is fault, there is fault and when it is dangerous, it is dangerous. You are not more brave for kicking.

"Sane will be out, I am not sure how long for, I am not a doctor,"

On the disallowed goal: "I have never seen that before in my life, but I can accept that."

On the quadruple chances: No. They asked me if we would be invincible in the Premier League and I said no. I do not have enough players, I have players out injured. It is impossible."

Rob Bown: The officials made Cardiff look good there. They should be 3-0 down and ten-men by half-time The final score should have been absolutely embarrassing for them. Clever interview from Kevin!

Mo Awada: Ref was shocking today! I understand Pep's fuming! No protection to the players whatsoever! Could have been a few injured players today.

Marcus Stead: Time to concentrate on the league and all that...

Adam Hughes: Sterling should be banned for three matches for crimes against football after fluffing that wonderful De Bruyne through ball. So easy to go round the keeper. Very poor.

Daniel Woodley: It was two disgusting challenges from Joe Bennett Deserved two red cards. Childish and immature from him. Deserves a longer ban.

Mark: Pep was crying because the ref allowed a few tackles. Sorry Pep! This ain't La Liga!

  14. 'Credit Cardiff'published at 18:08 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2018

    Cardiff 0-2 Manchester City

    Danny Gabbidon
Former Wales defender on BBC One

They did the best they could Cardiff so credit to them, they created some chances of their own and were well organised. I think Aguero coming on actually helped them, to have that recognised striker up front to track, so they created a few chances and they will feel much better about that second half.

  17. 'Professional performance'published at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2018

    Cardiff 0-2 Manchester City

    Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle striker on BBC One

It was strange that Cardiff went man-to-man against Premier League players of the quality of Manchester City and without a doubt that suited Man City. They changed that in the second half and they created some chances for themselves but all in all it was a comfortable afternoon for Man City.

It was a fantastic effort from the Man City players, sometimes you can go to a lower league side and think you'll win it but you have to go with that attitude that they had today. They were professional and deserved the result.

  20. 'It was easier to hit it under!'published at 17:59 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2018

    Cardiff 0-2 Manchester City

    Manchester City

Manchester City goalscorer Kevin de Bruyne speaking to BBC: "It was a different playing style to everyone else. The tactics we used were class because Vincent Kompany was always free and we opened up the midfield.

"We had a lot of space. The second-half was strange because they didn't want to attack us and I think it was a little bit boring for half an hour.

On his goal: "The wall was close so I thought it would be easier to hit it under rather than over!

On those bad tackles: "We knew how they played - they caught us a few times and that is football but obviously Leroy Sane is injured now and hopefully that is not too bad."
