It's a lively atmosphere with both sets of fans roaring their teams on in a game which is rapidly switching from end to end. Nearly all the Stoke supporters are on their feet, belting out their favourite song "Delilah", though Bournemouth's occasional tendency to over-elaborate when in possession on the edge of the Stoke box can make even the hosts' most devoted followers gnash their teeth in frustration.

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

Stoke fans are certainly going to like watching Badou Ndiaye this season. The debutant tries his luck with an overhead kick from near the penalty spot, and he is not too far away either. Just wide, and Stoke's lead remains at one.

Xherdan Shaqiri needs to watch himself. He got booked in the first half for kicking the ball away, so maybe not wise to give Charlie Daniels a shove in the back. But the Stoke man gets away with that one and avoids an early bath.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2018

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

We are back under way. And within seconds it is nearly 1-1. Jack Butland produces a wonderful save to deny Joshua King's 25-yard powerful strike. These are going to be a nervous 45 minutes for Stoke fans.

Bournemouth have looked a lot more lively since Joshua King replaced Steve Cook midway through the first half.

The forward has been picking the ball up from deep and running at Stoke defenders - as shown by this heat map - causing the visitors a few problems.

Paul Lambert's side have held out so far, though.

  7. 'Lambert's men have stood firm'published at 15:59 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2018

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

Applause from the Stoke fans as the half ends. They've been good value for it so far, while Bournemouth have threatened in fits and starts without quite finding the fluency with which they played at Chelsea on Wednesday.

Certainly the hosts have pace to burn in attack, with Wilson and King supported by Ibe and Stanislas on the flanks - and pace rather than trickery has looked the most likely route to unlock the Potters defence. But Paul Lambert's men have stood firm so far, despite needing a couple of last-gasp clearances to preserve their narrow lead.

  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2018

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

The end of a very entertaining 45 minutes at the Vitality Stadium. And it is just what Paul Lambert would have hoped for.

Xherdan Shaqiri heading in from debutant Badou Ndiaye's cross for the only goal so far. It looks like there will be more after the break.

  9. YELLOW CARD to Shaqiri (Stoke)published at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2018

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

A petulant booking for Xherdan Shaqiri, who gets his name taken after booting the ball away.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2018

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

Junior Stanislas sends in his free-kick with power and it forces Jack Butland to fling himself to his right to push it away with two hands.

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

Another free-kick in a dangerous area for Bournemouth as Ryan Shawcross is late on Junior Stanislas. Can they do better than last time?

  12. 'The home fans might need to check their blood pressure'published at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2018

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

Ryan Fraser (5ft 4ins) has just won a header with Peter Crouch (6ft 8ins) in close attendance, for a brief moment looking for all the world like a fathers v sons match. The big man didn't really challenge for it, but it's one for the pitchside photographers to capture.

Meanwhile, some of the home fans here in the main stand might need to check their blood pressure at half-time. Stoke manager Paul Lambert gets an earful for moving way, way out of his technical area, yells for a Cherries penalty are to no avail, offside flags are booed and had referee Paul Tierney not shown a card to Ndiaye just now, even uglier scenes may have resulted.

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

An absolute waste from Junior Stanislas. He sends his free-kick ankle-high into the high Stoke wall. Must do better.

  14. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

Free-kick to Bournemouth just outside the penalty area after a handball by Stoke captain Ryan Shawcross. Great chance this.

  15. YELLOW CARD - Ndiaye (Stoke)published at 37 mins

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

The first caution of the afternoon goes to Badou Ndiaye (who else) after wiping out Jordon Ibe 30 yards from goal. That is an assist, almost a goal, a scuffle and now a booking for the new man in the first 40 minutes of his life in the Premier League.

Bournemouth make a mess of the free-kick as well.

  16. Postpublished at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2018

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

Incredible defending from Erik Pieters of Stoke. Joshua King finds himself free in the box, he slides a low cross towards the back post where Jordon Ibe guides it goalbound. But a sliding Pieters gets his body in the way, the ball hits him on the line and goes away for a corner, which comes to nothing.

    Stoke's lead survives. Just.

  17. 'The home crowd aren't happy with the referee'published at 32 mins

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

    Mark Mitchener

Having lost one centre-back to injury already, it will be a relief to Bournemouth that captain Simon Francis is able to continue after he fell awkwardly following an aerial duel with Peter Crouch. There's no malice involved - the pair shake hands as Francis returns to the action.

The home crowd aren't happy, they feel they've been denied a free-kick or two in this opening half-hour while disputing a couple awarded to Stoke, but there's not really been a bad challenge yet by either side.

  18. Postpublished at 29 mins

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

A brief moment of panic for Stoke as goalscorer Xherdan Shaqiri gives it away, Callum Wilson runs at the Stoke defence, before Kurt Zouma sticks out a leg, wins the ball and clears the danger. Good challenge.

  19. Postpublished at 27 mins

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke City

Some pushing and shoving between Badou Ndiaye and Lewis Cook with the latter reacting to the former's challenge. Dan Gosling also gets involved, before the players sort it out with a hug. No action taken by the referee Paul Tierney. It has been a lively start to Ndiaye's Premier League career, who is making himself known.

  20. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Bournemouth 0-1 Stoke

It's not pretty, but nearly very effective. Moritz Bauer hurls the ball in from the right wing with a long throw, Peter Crouch narrowly misses a connection with a flick-on and it falls to Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. He shoots on the turn, but it goes just over the bar.

    Back to basics for Stoke.
