Finally Chelsea's attack clicks into gear as Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas combine before the latter has space on the edge of the area but shoots straight at the keeper.

Here's some stats that may give Chelsea fans cause for optimism.

All three of Chelsea's Premier League goals at Vicarage Road have come in the 80th minute or later - a 92nd-minute winner by Salomon Kalou in 2007, and goals by Michy Batshuayi and Diego Costa in 2016.

Meanwhile, seven of Olivier Giroud's last nine Premier League goals have come as a substitute, including all four this season.

In fact it is Watford who look the most dangerous when they attack as Troy Deeney gets the ball in the middle of the area before backheeling to Gerard Deulofeu, but he can't get a shot off before Chelsea clear.

Better from Chelsea as Olivier Giroud's height unnerves Sebastian Prodl and the defender puts behind for a corner. The ball is sent into the area but Mike Dean spots a rogue arm by Giroud on Prodl and awards Watford a free kick.

Belting run by Abdoulaye Doucouré from halfway. He powers towards the Chelsea area and, with plenty of space, shoots but his effort far too close to Thibaut Courtois, who palms over.

Watford make a change as Richarlison, who ran himself into the ground, is replaced by Roberto Pereyra.

Another Chelsea player goes in Mike Dean's book as Cesc Fabregas goes in clumsily on Gerard Deulofeu.

It is indeed Olivier Giroud time as the former Arsenal striker replaces Pedro.

David Luiz lets frustration get the better of him, kicking out at Marvin Zeeglaar as he attempts to get the ball and it earns him a yellow card.

Gerard Deulofeu then strikes an effort just wide from the free-kick.

Only side that looks like scoring is Watford.

At the other end, Richarlison attempts to cushion a header into Troy Deeney's path inside the box but it's a bit too heavy and the ball bounces out of play.

Victor Moses cuts in from the right before aiming a pass towards the far post. There's no-one there, though. Sums up Chelsea's play so far.
