Wondering why Marcos Alonso is absent? This tweet from Chelsea doesn't really shed that much more light on the matter.

His absence is "precautionary", whatever that means.

Watford's Brazilian striker Richarlison is up against a couple of his mates tonight.

Willian and David Luiz have helped their compatriot settle into life in England with the pair taking the 20-year-old out to restaurants, see the sights and also providing tips on how to do well in the Premier League.

"My family is not here so we get together and are always doing barbecues at Luiz's home," Richarlison told the Evening Standard. "We go out to restaurants in London too. I've gone on the London Eye with them, seen Big Ben and things like that.

"Willian shows me videos, telling me what positions I should take up, how to be intelligent on the pitch, how to move around. It is almost like he is my manager!"

James: Watford's front 3 pose more of an attacking threat than the PL champions. What is going on?

Martin Leggatt: Not scoring goals? Need a striker? Buy one and then play without a striker anyway. Winning’s overrated anyway.

Watford make two changes from their 0-0 draw with Stoke. Christian Kabasele and Tom Cleverley are out, Daryl Janmaat and Marvin Zeegelaar are in.

Olivier Giroud is on Chelsea's bench as they decide to go without a striker again - with Alvaro Morata still sidelined.

They make three changes from the 3-0 Bournemouth defeat. David Luiz makes his first Premier League start since October, with Andreas Christensen (hamstring) out.

Willian takes Ross Barkley's place, and Victor Moses is in for Marcos Alonso, who misses out for the first time this season. New signing Emerson Palmieri is also on the bench, alongside Giroud.

Ayodeji Oluyede: Conte caused his own downfall, sold good players & replaced them with average players blaming the board made him look childish

Lanusunep: Gerard Deulofeu might just save the season for Watford. A proven player in the premier league.

And also at 19:00 GMT we'll get the team news for tonight's game. Will Antonio Conte throw Olivier Giroud straight into his starting XI? Alvaro Morata is set to miss this game with a back injury, so the French striker could well come in.

  11. Conte's position not as dire as reports suggestpublished at 18:49 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2018

    Watford v Chelsea (20:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Reports appeared over the weekend that should tonight's result not go their way, Chelsea would move to get rid of Antonio Conte as their manager.

Not getting any sense from the club that the situation is as dire as that, just the opposite in fact.

It has been pointed out Chelsea remain in the top four, despite playing one fewer game than everyone else, are also in the Champions League and the FA Cup.

Conte is a fairly headstrong chap but it doesn't seem he is going anywhere this week.

Andy Capontes: Is it wrong to sack your manager the season after winning league, probably. But if Chelsea win the league every other year with this method then they won’t care. Funny how Conte wants public backing, like his public sacking off of Costa!

Steve Howes: Chelsea are just mad, we have to back Conte. We never give a manager long enough but expect Champagne moments on sparkling water budgets.

What do you think about Antonio Conte's situation? Is it daft that we are even talking about the possibility of him getting the boot barely a year after guiding Chelsea to the title or do you think a change is needed?

And Watford fans, think your side are in danger of going down or are you confident Javi Gracia is the man to turnaround the poor run of form?

  14. Tough times for the Hornets alsopublished at 18:41 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2018

    Watford v Chelsea (20:00 GMT)

Watford's 2018 hasn't been any better with their only win in six games coming in the FA Cup.

The Hornets' run of just one win in their last 12 Premier League games has seen a strong start and hopes of a top half finish make way for fears of a relegation scrap. Watford are 11th but just three points above the drop zone.

It's not been a great 2018 so far for Chelsea. They've won just two of their nine games in all competitions with just one of those wins coming in the Premier League.

They really could do with a win tonight to strengthen their hopes of a top-four finish.

  16. Back me or lose me?published at 18:34 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2018

    Watford v Chelsea (20:00 GMT)

Yep, after a patchy run of form this season Antonio Conte's position as Chelsea boss is apparently a tad precarious. In fact, the uncertainty surrounding his position is such that Conte himself is asking for the Chelsea board to publicly back him.

"I'd like to have a statement to support against this speculation," said the 48-year-old Italian. "Maybe I'd like that the club prepare a statement to tell the media, 'I trust in his job, I trust in his work'."

He hasn't got his wish so far but a win against Watford tonight would go some way to making his position that bit more secure.

  17. Pressure mounting?published at 18:29 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2018

    Watford v Chelsea (20:00 GMT)

Antonio Conte? Under pressure? Surely not. After all, it's barely even nine months since he led Chelsea to the Premier League title and no manager gets the boot in February of the season of their title defence.

    Oh, wait...
