There is no tempo to the game. Watford are really slow with their passing.

Perhaps Javier Gracia, the Watford manager is just conscious that every point is crucial and is intent on keeping what they have.

This game is there for the taking though for either team.

Watford have been poor. When you see a team like them that is lacking in confidence you expect more from Everton. They should be taking the game to them.

Wayne Rooney tries to rekindle the days when he scored spectacular goals as he drives into the area to latch on to a volley - sadly it's wild as the ex-England striker fails to get his boot over the ball.

We still have more than 20 minutes remaining of this match.

That was an old fashioned shoulder charge from Cenk Tosun.

He was just too strong for Gerard Deulofeu who was limping as he was coming off.

Watford have already made two substitutions so if they get another injury now they will be down to ten men.

Wayne Rooney was caught dawdling on the ball which isn't like him - allowing Watford to get in.

Troy Deeney had a header and a couple of years ago he might have scored that. He doesn't look like he's in the best shape he's ever been in.

Everton skipper Wayne Rooney almost costs his side a goal.

He's dispossessed on the right and the ball arrives at the feet of Roberto Pereyra who finds the head of Troy Deeney with a lovely delivery.

Sadly for Watford, Deeney's header loops into the hands of Jordan Pickford.

It's substitute o'clock coming up... hold on to your hats!!

Matt: Backwards and sideways passing is beginning to really put me off football. I understand pulling players out of position and patiently building but some of the pointless backwards passing from Everton today makes me yell at the TV. And I’m a neutral.

Gerard Deulofeu is the Watford danger man. I just wonder about his fitness levels.

He had a habit of fading near the end of games when he was at Everton.

That was close-ish.

Michael Keane nods the ball down to the far post where Tom Davies steals in, but just doesn't... steal enough... as the ball races away from him.

It's an Everton corner as Adrian Mariappa dispossesses (is that the right number of 's'?) Tom Davies.

The corner comes to nothing.

It's apparently -3C at Vicarage Road.

If the fans were wearing watches that measured heartrates then the screens would have shown increases of at least three beats per minute as Troy Deeney almost got on the end of Roberto Pereyra's through-ball.

Alas, he didn't.
