I’ve just been speaking to journalists in Spain, Italy, Germany and France for our “Sport Today” radio programme on the BBC World Service and the one word that kept coming up was “quiet.”

Here in England we seem to be monopolising all the fun when it comes to deadline day.

Our French correspondent was expecting a couple of last-minute deals but the other three have already got their feet up.

One move happening in Italy though; Sporting left-back Jonathan Silva will be Emerson Palmieri’s replacement at Roma. Italian media have pictured him having a medical in Rome.

Like Geoffs/Jeffs, you also don't get a lot of people called Pontus.

Goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg has signed on a five-and-a-half-year deal. The 19-year-old will return to IFK Göteborg on loan for the rest of this season.

I was only saying earlier in the office that you don't get many Jeffs/Geoffs these days.

As if by magic, one appears on transfer deadline day. Or disappears, actually.

Arsenal have sent Jeff Reine-Adelaide on loan to French club Angers for the rest of the season.

The France youth international has spent most of his season with the Gunners' U23 squad.

Also, in non-Jeff news, Chuba Akpom has joined Sint-Truidense in the Belgian top flight on loan for the rest of the season.
