One BIG move that looked like happening, but now looks like NOT happening, was winger Riyad Mahrez leaving Leicester for Manchester City.

City pulled out of the deal earlier on today but Mahrez is not in the squad to play Everton tonight.

    Could a move still happen?

  2. Martin on the movepublished at 19:38 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

A big(ish) signing in the Championship - Derby County striker Chris Martin has agreed to join Reading on loan until the end of the season.

The Scotland international, 29, last started a game for his parent club on 9 December in the Championship victory against Barnsley.

Former Norwich player Martin scored 11 goals on loan at Fulham last season, including a double against Reading.

He also came off the bench to score against the Royals earlier this season in a 4-2 defeat at Pride Park.

    Lookman heads east

    Everton

Big Sam signed Theo Walcott this month and maybe he's got one winger too many. Either way, this seems a slightly odd move as Ademola Lookman heads to the Bundesliga and joins RB Leipzig on loan!

Hopefully you have a little more luck than he did...

James Young: Excited about Chelsea's business this window. I've had a man-crush on Giroud for some time (from a footballing perspective, of course). He will certainly provide more stiff competition for Morata.

Yes! A proper deadline day stalwart. The former Manchester United man has got himself a new club. Which is quite some effort.

  13. 'Saints have left me in disbelief'published at 19:25 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

    Southampton

When the early sale of Virgil van Dijk went through, fans initially took comfort in the fact that we’d have £75m to correct and amend the blatant issues within the squad. Yet here we are just hours away from the window closing with a team that’s arguably weaker than before.

Not only did we decide to sell our best centre-back and show no intention of replacing him, but our pursuit of Quincy Promes - which appeared to start only a matter of days ago - has fallen flat on its face, with Spartak fearful that they won’t find a replacement in time. Who’d have thought on 31 January?

The addition of Guido Carrillo is certainly welcome given that he appears to suit Pellegrino’s more physical demands of a centre forward, but I’ve once again been left in disbelief that 18 months on from Sadio Mane’s departure, we’re yet to recruit another player of his profile.

Liverpool's Lazar Markovic may still make a loan move away from Anfield before tonight's transfer deadline - but a proposed switch to Swansea City looks to be off.

The 23-year-old Serbian, a £20m signing by then manager Brendan Rodgers from Benfica in summer 2014, is currently at Liverpool's Melwood training headquarters awaiting developments after both Swansea and Wolfsburg held talks over a move.

Markovic has no future at Anfield under manager Jurgen Klopp and has failed to feature this season.

A transfer to a European club now looks to be his best option after Swansea's interest cooled.

Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow have also been linked with a player who has had loan spells at Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon and Hull City in recent seasons since falling from favour at Liverpool.
