  2. 'Everyone knows that Auba is crazy'published at 16:05 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

    Aubameyang joins Arsenal

Between myself and Matt (and perhaps a search engine), we've translated what Aubameyang has said in German on his Instagram post.

"First of all sorry for everything that happened in the last month. But I wanted to change last summer, it did not work, but now it had to be. Maybe it was not the best way I chose, but everyone knows that Auba is crazy - and yes, I'm a crazy kid, hahahaha!

"I've made mistakes, but never with malice. I will never forget these four and a half years at Borussia Dortmund, because you all gave me the strength for the level I am now. Thanks to the whole BVB family, the fans, the club, the staff and of course my teammates! Your Auba17 !!!"

  3. Luiz to Arsenal?published at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

    David Ornstein
    BBC Sport

Hearing whispers (nothing concrete) Arsenal have been exploring possibility of signing David Luiz from Chelsea as part of the Olivier Giroud deal - as per the Daily Star's chief football writer David Woods' reports yesterday - or Roma’s Kostas Manolas.

Would be one or other, no idea if it will happen. Defence a clear concern for Arsenal.

Thanks for the gifs you've been sending. I hope you all get everything you wished for tonight.

Inflated fees? Panic buys and sure-fire flops? The January transfer window has a reputation for producing somewhat unpredictable purchases.

Do: Your homework, drive a hard bargain, make signings feel welcome.

Don't: Be turned by 'sexy' players.

Joseph Venable: Daniel Sturridge has been the stand-out transfer of the window so far. The second-best striker in the league, gone for a song. Unbelievable.

Drew: I think van Dijk to Liverpool has to be the move of the window so far, in terms of putting a quality player into a slot that really needed filling. Aubameyang is exciting but will the English game be too much for him? Time will tell.

Everton midfield man Davy Klaassen's proposed loan move to Serie A giants Napoli is off.

Talks over the deal have broken down and the 24-year-old former Ajax captain, signed in a £24m deal by former Everton manager Ronald Koeman last summer, will now stay at Goodison Park.

Everton, meanwhile, are confident they will complete a loan deal for Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala before the transfer window closes.
