  1. 'Zaha is a huge miss for Palace'published at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2018

    Everton 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Mark Schwarzer
    Ex-Chelsea keeper on Final Score

Wilfried Zaha has been phenomenal since he came back from injury, especially since Roy Hodgson came in, he's really got the best out of Zaha. It's a huge miss for Palace - to lose Zaha for so long.

Sam Allardyce came in and had an immediate impact, but they've really fallen away since then. And the biggest thing for me has been the amount of goals they've conceded - but they've got a big chance today - against a really under-strength Crystal Palace side.

  2. CLOSE!published at 9 mins

    Everton 0-0 Crystal Palace

Neat feet by Gylfi Sigurdsson to create shooting space. He's 25 yards out and sends a dipping effort just wide.

  3. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Everton 0-0 Crystal Palace

Eliaquim Mangala's Everton career started with a drubbing at Arsenal and it nearly gets worse. He doesn't put much power on a backpass and Jordan Pickford has to win a footrace to beat a striker to the ball. Pickford is now out of his goal and Yohan Cabaye turns an effort from 40 yards just wide.

  4. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Everton 0-0 Crystal Palace

Tom Davies is all over Joel Ward like a cheap perfume to concede a free-kick in the Palace half.

Everton seem to be lining up 4-2-3-1 and it's Wayne Rooney and Idrissa Gueye who are the deep midfielders.

  5. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Everton 0-0 Crystal Palace

Theo Walcott thinks he's beaten the offside trap to get down the right flank but as soon as he races to reach the ball the flag goes up. Boos from the home crowd but he was just off. Timid start.

    Everton 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Gary Flintoff
BBC Radio 5 live at Goodison Park

We must have one of the best seats in the house at Goodison Park. The Everton first team coach Craig Shakespeare and director of football Steve Walsh have just sat down in front of us. Shakespeare has just put his ear piece in for his direct hotline to manager Sam Allardyce who is on the touchline.

  8. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Everton 0-0 Crystal Palace

Oumar Niasse thinks he's powered his way through the away defence but a sliding tackle stops him and earns Everton a corner. In it comes... headed away easily at the near post.

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

    Everton 0-0 Crystal Palace

Here we go then. Can Everton get some momentum again after a dire run. Crystal Palace have been very good on the road of late, can they keep it going?

Gylfi Sigurdsson charges down a Joel Ward clearance early on to pin Palace into their own half with a throw in.

"Now for the mighty blues of Everton, we line up as follows..."

That's the man on the microphone at Goodison. As he addresses the masses, referee Jon Moss does a few sprints to warm up. He will want a straightforward day possibly more than even the managers.

"It's a grand old team to play for, it's a grand old team to supppooorrrttt..."

The loudspeaker blasts out one of Everton's traditional songs. Wayne Rooney exchanges a few smiles with officials in the tunnel.

"Come on boys... come on..." shouts a player at the back of the line. Here they come.

Ian Dennis (left) and Pat Nevin have been paired together for this afternoon’s commentary on BBC Radio 5 live at 15:00 GMT. They have already taken their seats in the commentary box and I'll use all the good stuff they have to say in this live text.

The pitch has been vacated at Goodison and we await the teams. A lot of woolly hats on show in the crowd, but what about in the commentary box?

  15. 'The Big Sam stigma?'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2018

Everton v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Jermaine Jenas
Former Tottenham midfielder on 5 live

Everton are not the first club to get it wrong in terms of going and spending to bring in too much all at once. The Sam Allardyce situation was an odd one in terms of it felt like a panic to me - he wasn't their first choice. He was always up against it.

His career and the way he managed team does come with a stigma. I am just a bit worried that, is this one of the better teams he has managed? In terms of the type of players? Are they prepared to do what he wants in terms of get clean sheets first then create?

Usually Sam Allardyce teams are well drilled in keeping clean sheets but Everton crumbled against Arsenal. It's worrying times. Normally he has his teams hard to play against.

He got them stable and got them winning, and then changed it again. When you have the quality they have, you've got to use them. But for some reason he doesn't want to.

One of the intriguing sub-plots to this match is the appointment of referee Jon Moss. He was literally the man in the middle of Liverpool's controversial 2-2 draw with Tottenham last Sunday.

Moss will hope there are no contentious issues in this game, unlike the reverse fixture when Everton's Omar Niasse received the first Premier League retrospective ban for diving.

Everton boss Sam Allardyce led Palace to survival last season but called his current side"pathetic" after their 5-1 loss to Arsenal. He will surely make changes to his misfiring Toffees side.

Palace have also had problems scoring; with talisman Wilfried Zaha out injured for a least a month, and with five of their next six games against top six sides, they are entering a very tricky period.

  18. 'It may only take a tackle'published at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2018

    Seamus ColemanImage source, Reuters

Everton full-back Seamus Coleman has just spoken to the media about returning for his second start since breaking his leg on international duty:

"It's great," he says. "Something I have missed for the last 10 months. The aim has always been to get back out there and I had the excitement on Friday night so I can't wait to be back out there again.

On responding to the 5-1 loss at Arsenal: "Any game at Goodison is a chance to bounce back. As professionals we know that was not good enough. First and foremost we need to get the crowd behind us. It may only take a tackle to get the crowd behind us but when they are behind us it's a tough place to play."

  19. Seamus a focuspublished at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2018

Everton v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

Everton have brought us some lovely images of inside the changing room and also show us that Seamus Coleman is on the front of the match programme.

You worry for Sam Allardyce if today goes wrong. His side have just one win in eight league games. The 'Big Sam Bounce' had all the spring of a boiled egg.

Everton did not lose any of their first seven games under him but it's been sloppy stuff since.

  20. Cheers for Seamuspublished at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2018

Everton v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Gary Flintoff
BBC Radio 5 live at Goodison Park

The PA announcer has just read out the two starting line-ups for the first time this afternoon. The Everton fans applauded lethargically for almost all of their starting XI. The one exception was Seamus Coleman who got a big cheer as he continues his comeback from injury.
