  1. 'Allardyce deserves more credit'published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    Everton v Brighton (15:00 GMT)

    Danny Mills
Former England defender on Final Score

I don't think Sam Allardyce has got enough credit. When he went in to Everton, what was his job? To stop them going down. He's more than achieved that. They could still finish eighth or ninth so I think he deserves one more season.

  2. 'Difficult for Huddersfield'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    Huddersfield v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

    Dion Dublin
Ex-Aston Villa striker on Final Score

Players like Van la Parra have to play well all the time, Huddersfield can't afford to carry anybody. I do believe it'll be difficult for them to stay in the league.

  3. Postpublished at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

It's a day for sprinklers it seems. They wash away on the turf at Huddersfield, while at Goodison they are working their magic too. Slick surfaces for passing football is the order of the day.

Don't know about you but I do sometimes long for a mud bath, just to see how these top players handle it.

Huddersfield are seeking back-to-back wins for the first time since November, Everton, well, let's be honest, Big Sam needs a win just to keep those Blues who have lost faith off his back.

  4. 'Massive game at St James''published at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    Newcastle v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

    Danny Mills
Former England defender on Final Score

I've written so many teams off already this season, but that's how the bottom of the table has been. What a massive game this is. If Newcastle win they go four points above Southampton. That's a massive gap and Southampton will start to worry. But if Southampton win they can go up four places above Swansea.

And when did it become a thing for young spectators to hold signs saying 'please can I have your shirt'?

Christopher Schindler is the target of a group of youngsters at Huddersfield.

The cheek. Would never have happened in my day, and other miserable sentiments...

  6. Postpublished at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

West Brom v Leicester (15:00 GMT)

Speaking of floodlights, it's practically nighttime at The Hawthorns. If we didn't have electricity, bad light would stop play. And what has Jake Livermore been doing in the warm-up? He does not look like a man in a fit state to be playing 90 minutes...

  7. Postpublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

Grey in Yorkshire, misty, like the start of a horror film. Or Wuthering Heights. The floodlights peer down from on high. There's a chap at one end of the ground, outside the stadium, sitting on a slope and peering over a fence. I applaud that man.

  8. Postpublished at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    Everton v Brighton (15:00 GMT)

I've only just noticed the Park End at Goodison Park, where the word 'Goodison' is spelt out at the top of the stand, backwards, so it can be read outside of the stadium. Is that in the direction of Anfield?

  9. Postpublished at 14:36 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

West Ham v Burnley (15:00 GMT)

Having a quick scout around the grounds, it looks much brighter at London Stadium for West Ham's game against Burnley than for any of the games in the north.

Then again, that might just be Marko Arnautovic's hair...

  12. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    Manchester United 2-1 Liverpool

If you are amongst the three people that haven't been following events at Old Trafford, allow me to tell you that the full-time whistle has just gone.

A Marcus Rashford-inspired Manchester United have pulled five points clear of third-placed Liverpool.

If you're joining us because that game has finished, welcome...

  13. 'Relegation concerns for West Ham'published at 14:27 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

West Ham v Burnley (15:00 GMT)

    Martin Fisher
    Match of the Day commentator

"Successive 4-1 away defeats have reawakened relegation concerns for West Ham who seemed to be well set for survival not so long ago.

"The loss of Winston Reid to injury for the rest of the season is a hammer blow (sorry) to a defence that has become far too easy to score against.

"That in turn increases the pressure on the flair players to perform. On their day Marko Arnautovic and Manuel Lanzini can be brilliant but do those days come along regularly enough?

"Burnley haven't won away since November but remain tough to beat and their aerial threat might just be enough to earn a rare victory for them in the East End and deepen David Moyes' misery."

  14. Hart returns for Hammerspublished at 14:25 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

West Ham v Burnley (15:00 GMT)

West Ham make five changes from their 4-1 defeat at Swansea, with Joe Hart returning in goal the stand-out move by David Moyes.

Moyes told media in midweek that Hart would replace Adrian, who has conceded eight goals in two games.

Other changes see Michail Antonio and Joao Mario come in, while James Collins replaces the injured Winston Reid and Aaron Cresswell is in for Patrice Evra.

West Ham XI: Hart, Cresswell, Zabaleta, Arnautovic, Kouyaté, Lanzini, Noble, Mário, Collins, Ogbonna, Antonio.

Sean Dyche unsurprisingly goes unchanged from the win over Everton where his side ended a run of 12 games without a win in all competitions.

Burnley XI: Pope, Lowton, Cork, Tarkowski, Mee, Barnes, Hendrick, Gudmundsson, Westwood, Ward, Lennon.

While there continues to be speculation over the future of Alan Pardew the consensus is almost universal about West Bromwich Albion's fate this season.

Eight points from safety with nine matches remaining, the Baggies somehow have to undergo an astonishing improvement if they are to avoid relegation.

Leicester, despite their indifferent results of late, have an excellent record at The Hawthorns.

Jamie Vardy scored in each of their three previous Premier League victories at West Brom, all of them winning goals, so he and Leicester will fancy their chances of inflicting another defeat on the Premier League's bottom side.

  16. Evans misses out for West Brompublished at 14:20 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

West Brom v Leicester (15:00 GMT)

West Brom manager Alan Pardew makes two changes from the side which lost 1-0 at Watford seven days ago.

Baggies captain Jonny Evans is replaced in defence by Allan Nyom as the Northern Ireland centre-back is absent through illness. Goalkeeper Ben Foster takes the armband.

Oliver Burke is preferred to Jay Rodriguez in attack alongside Salomon Rondon.

West Brom XI: Foster, Nyom, Dawson, Hegazi, Gibbs. Krychowiak. Livermore, Brunt, Phillips, Rondon, Burke

Leicester boss Claude Puel makes five changes from the side which drew with Bournemouth last time out.

Danny Simpson and Ben Chilwell return in defence with Marc Albrighton and Christian Fuchs the men to make way.

Demarai Gray, Vicente Iborra and Shinji Okazaki all come into the starting line-up with Adrien Silva, Matty James and Daniel Amartey all missing out.

Leicester XI: Schmeichel, Simpson, Maguire, Morgan, Chilwell, Iborra, Ndidi, Gray, Mahrez, Okazaki, Vardy

  17. 'Brighton form down to Hughton'published at 14:18 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    Everton v Brighton (15:00 GMT)

    Jermaine Jenas
Former Tottenham midfielder on Football Focus

I’d give all the credit to Chris Hughton for Brighton's recent form. He sets team up in a certain way and has done so from the beginning of the season until now.

They have a way of playing that has good balance, the midfielders don’t push on too far, and they always gives himself a chance in a match. They have been through a tough spell, but come through it with flying colours.

  18. 'Everton's summer spending was rubbish'published at 14:17 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    Everton v Brighton (15:00 GMT)

    Alex Bruce
Wigan defender on BBC Radio 5 live

The recruitment in the summer was a load of rubbish, let's be honest. They spent masses of money and didn't improve the team.

Gylfi Sigurdsson, for example, a really, really good player but £45m? I'm not so sure.

The mood of these two clubs heading into this one is contrasting.

Brighton are unbeaten in seven league and cup games, and have 34 points on the board, while a run of two wins from 11 top-flight matches has well and truly ended Sam Allardyce's honeymoon period on Merseyside.

The Everton boss will be relieved to be back at Goodison Park, where the Blues have only lost one of their last nine, for what he calls their "bread and butter".

He will be more than aware of the questions many have asked of his team and that the natives are more than restless and will want a positive reaction.

That will be easier said than done against a team with real confidence and momentum, and with one of the league's in-form strikers in Glenn Murray.

Chris Hughton has embraced the challenge for new records and standards, and Brighton's first win at Goodison is the latest in his sights.

  20. Four changes for Evertonpublished at 14:15 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    Everton v Brighton (15:00 GMT)

Four changes for Everton as Sam Allardyce reacts to last week's 2-1 defeat at Burnley.

Wayne Rooney is back in the starting line-up along with full-back Leighton Baines, captain Phil Jagielka and Yannick Bolasie.

Ashley Williams is suspended, while Cuco Martina and Dominic Calvert-Lewin drop to the bench, and Idrissa Gueye is out.

Everton XI: Pickford, Coleman, Jagielka, Keane, Baines, Rooney, Davies, Sigurdsson, Walcott, Tosun, Bolasie.

Just the one change for Brighton from the side that beat Arsenal 2-1 last Sunday.

Midfielder Dale Stephens is out so Israel international Beram Kayal makes his third Premier League start for the club.

Defender Shane Duffy, a former Everton youth player, starts on his return to Merseyside.

Brighton XI: Ryan, Schelotto, Duffy, Dunk, Bong, Knockaert, Kayal, Propper, Izquierdo, Gross, Murray.
