Flytrap_3005: Can see the wenger-in crew are out in full force today, lets wait until next week or even this weekend then check back. One win doesn't change anything.

Ab: So the Wenger in crowd have crawled out from under the rock. Where were they last week? Or the week before? Or the one before that? Or this whole season? It wouldn't matter if we won 10-0, Wenger still needs to go this summer.

    Marseille 2-0 Athletic Bilbao

Almost a third for Marseille as Dimitri Payet slips in Vaeère Germain, whose shot is saved by the Athletic keeper's feet.

  6. 'Important after a nightmare week'published at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2018

    AC Milan 0-2 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, speaking to BT Sport: “It is an important win of course after we had a nightmare week. Overall it is important to win, but it is not qualification. We have to finish the job at home. I am happy with the spirit and response we gave.

“We were not in a position to take risks, but we could not be too cautious as you lose fluidity. We defended with resilience until the end.

“When you play in a cup final it is hard to digest in a few days. When you are knocked down like a boxer you don’t have time to react and you are only halfway up, but you have to respond. Your pride and desire to show quality has to come through in the game.”

    Dimitri Payet (14 mins)

Boom. An Athletic defender clears the ball straight to Dimitri Payet, who controls the ball on his chest and rifles the ball past Iago Herrerin on the bounce.

    AC Milan 0-2 Arsenal

Arsenal are the first side to beat AC Milan at the San Siro in the Europa League or Uefa Cup since February 2002 (1-0 defeat by Roda JC). The Italians had gone 10 games without losing between these defeats.

  9. 'We know what we are capable of'published at 20:15 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2018

    AC Milan 0-2 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsay, speaking to BT Sport: “We started well, we got a couple of goals in the first half and we have shown we have plenty of character in the team.

“It is never easy to come to the San Siro and play AC Milan, we came here before and lost 4-0.

“We played well in the first half and moved the ball well and kept a clean sheet.

“We have been on a bad run, but sometimes you train hard and it does not work, but we know what we are capable of.”

ScarletVarlet: This is not merely a win for Arsenal, but one on the road, a long way from home, before an unfriendly arena. Well done lads!

Just started my 100 lines as punishment 'must not send negative texts to 81111 before kick off'. Well played Arsenal.

As a neutral, it's good to see a North London team winning in Europe...

    Lucas Ocampos (1 min)

We have a goal in the first minute. Florian Thauvin, who has been unrecognisable from his Newcastle days this year, whips in an excellent cross, which Lucas Ocampos turns home at the back post.

Richard Elgar: Is there any chance the 'Arsene Out' whingers could acknowledge a classy, professional, and entertaining win over AC Milan at the San Siro? Or just too entitled?

Ruairi Loughran: It is amazing that it only takes one game, one game after a poor league campaign for Wenger to get another contract extension. Who else can do that kinda U-turn in one game. He is a genius!

I'm still Wenger out, too little too late. We needed this performance against City in cup but players didn't turn up. We need change and one game don't change that.

Jon Spurling: Excellent - Arsenal aren't broken after all, everything is ok, tactics are spot on, the coaching is fine, the team spirit is completely healed, and Wenger is once again a genius. 10 more years?

Gbadero Toluwalope: Good game I'll say. An honest message from a Gunner. Sir Wenger, let's part in peace, no matter the season's end, it's time to go.

Clearly a lot of Arsenal fans around unaware of just how awful Milan are nowadays.

Milan didn't play well today - although Arsenal's defence can take some credit for that. That's their first defeat in 14 games.

For Arsenal supporters who are against Wenger, can you at least hold your hands up and say "I may not like him, but he's done awesomely today".

    Fred, Devon

Mubiana Mulemwa: Really an impressive game from Arsenal. Had little faith in the team but they have shown character. We need to improve though.

Rosh: Is there an AC Milan Fan TV? I'd like to watch that tonight.
