    Man City 2-0 Man Utd

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Etihad Stadium

Standing ovation for Manchester City and fully deserved. Brilliant display and Manchester United hugely flattered by only being two down.

This was a masterclass brutally delivered to Manchester City's fiercest rivals.

Sam: Couple of frustrating misses for Sterling, his movement with sane has been fantastic, he'll get at least one at this rate.

Ken: Is this Raheem Sterling taking pity on United because it should be all over?

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 44 mins

    Man City 2-0 Man Utd

Romelu Lukaku has barely had a sniff but he does receive a yellow card for a no nonsense chop from behind on Vincent Kompany.

Abhie: Pathetic passing and even worse defence. How does Smalling and Herrera get game time is beyond me. Herrera rarely makes a good pass and Smalling is awfully bad every week.

Jason: I wonder if there will ever come a point when fans stop overrating Bailly. He's just not that good.

  7. CLOSE!published at 43 mins

    Man City 2-0 Man Utd

City should have had five in this first half.

Ilkay Gundogan has got one and could so easily have doubled his tally, but his free header from eight yards out is down the throat of David de Gea.

    Either side...

  8. CLOSE!published at 41 mins

    Man City 2-0 Man Utd

Raheem Sterling does finally get an effort on target, but it is a soft strike from the edge of the box which dribbles into the hands of United goalkeeper David de Gea.

  9. 'United disjointed'published at 18:11 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Man City 2-0 Man Utd

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

The communication, the distances, United are all over the place. Romelu Lukaku hasn’t had a touch, Alexis Sanchez is a passenger, Jesse Lingard hasn't been involved.

The "oles" are out already from the home fans and we are not even at half-time yet.

United might not come out for the second half at this rate.

Jon: I definitely get the impression the City players understand what it means to the fans more than United do. This is embarrassing, United players all absolutely useless AGAIN.

Femi: This could be a rout! United players not in the mood to be party poppers.

  14. CLOSE!published at 37 mins

    Man City 2-0 Man Utd

David Silva is ripping United to shreds here.

The Spaniard is being given so much time and space and allowed to dictate the play.

He slots the ball through to Raheem Sterling inside the box, but once again the finish is poor, as the England international blazes over the bar.

    Man City 2-0 Man Utd

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

Right on cue, a blimp advertising City's link-up with dating app Tinder drifts into view above the Etihad.

If anyone is going on a date with a City fan tonight, it looks like they will be in a good mood... still time for that to change, though.

The party has started here at Etihad Stadium and it's no surprise.

Manchester City have simply picked up momentum in a fashion that has been too much for this pedestrian Manchester United side.

It has been a magnificent passage of play and has pushed Manchester City to the brink of the Premier League title.

Doctor Joker: That goal by Gundogan epitomises the picturesque football City have played all season.

Ladele: Man City are so fluid , twists and swilvels and turns. Just like hot knife sliding through butter. Outstanding overall.

  20. Atkinson plays his part in City's secondpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Man City 2-0 Man Utd

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

He's got a couple of decisions wrong today but a great advantage played by referee Martin Atkinson to allow play to continue for City's second goal. Leroy Sane was fouled in the build-up... and was still on the ground when Fabian Delph slid in to hug him and celebrate after Ilkay Gundogan put the ball in the net.
