    Jed Wallace (11 mins)

It looked like there'd be goals in this game on the basis of the opening stages and it's taken just 12 minutes for it to arrive.

Milwall, unbeaten in 14, continue their surge towards the top six as Jed Wallace curls in from a tight angle to put them in front against Bristol City.

Boro v ForestImage source, Rex Features

Middlesbrough have followed Derby's lead by scoring an early goal to strengthen their position in the top six, with Daniel Ayala scoring from close range to put the hosts ahead.

Not the start Forest boss Aitor Karanka would've wanted on his first trip back to the Riverside.

  5. goal

GOAL: Derby 1-0 Boltonpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Alex Pearce (6 mins)

Alex Pearce is keeping Richard Keogh out of the Derby side at the moment and he is justifying Gary Rowett's call, heading the Rams in front at Pride Park.

Callum Robinson has an early strike on goal for Preston. It's easily saved by Reading keeper Vito Mannone.

    Millwall 0-0 Bristol City

This is a big old game just on the brink of the play-off spots, with seventh-placed Bristol City visiting eighth-placed Millwall.

It's an end-to-end start, too, as Joe Bryan's early free-kick is straight into the wall before Frank Fielding does well to deny Lions forward Steve Morison.

Both teams need to win and both have started in that manner.

Today's match at St Andrew's is just about as big as any in the Championship, with bottom club Burton Albion the visitors.

Burton are eight points adrift of 21st-placed Birmingham City, who could not only all-but relegate the Brewers with victory this afternoon but also take a giant step towards their own survival.

Sunderland, who visit Leeds, will also be casting a keen eye over events in the West Midlands.

  13. When relegation and promotion collidepublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Reading v Preston (15:00 BST)

Two wins in 20 games doesn't make good reading for Reading. Thankfully one of those victories came in Paul Clement's first game as manager the game before last.

The Royals are five points clear of the relegation zone but with six to go they are far from certain of staying in the Championship.

Maybe it's a good time to play Preston, whose play-off push is faltering following three defeats in four. They are now in 10th place, but still only three points off the top six.

This one certainly has an "all-to-play-for" feel about it.

  14. Adamant about a home winpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Derby v Bolton (15:00 BST)

Bolton have the worst away record in the Championship. A measly 11 points all season, and winless in seven. Stats can be misleading if you dress them up in the right way. Dressing that one up would be tricky.

Derby are the best placed of the seven teams who still have play-off hopes but automatic hopes seem pretty much and dusted.

They haven't lost in 12 home games against Bolton going back to a 2-1 loss in September 1981.

Talking of dressing up. Adam and the Ants were number one in September 1981. Prince Charming the song. It was certainly "a look".

The Trotters are only five points clear of the bottom three and could do with changing that record. The fact that Gary Madine left in January and is still their top scorer with ten goals in probably not a good thing.

  15. Forest look to upset Boro on Karanka's Riverside returnpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

Middlesbrough v Nottingham Forest (15:00 BST)

Nottingham Forest manager Aitor KarankaImage source, PA

Aitor Karanka (pictured) returns to the Riverside for the first time as a manager since being sacked by Middlesbrough in March 2017.

There's been plenty of positivity since he took at Nottingham Forest but the results have been no better than steady and the entertainment factor low.

The Reds haven't scored in four games, including three 0-0 draws. The run actually extends to 371 minutes when Matty Cash scored against Birmingham.

Boro need to up their game to get in the play-offs. They had to score late to draw with bottom-of the-table Burton last time out and are sixth, on 63 points, but there are three teams just a point behind.

  16. Fulham on the chargepublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

Sheffield Wednesday v Fulham (15:00 BST)

    FulhamImage source, Getty Images

Fulham's astonishing run shows no signs of coming to an end.

It's now 18 without defeat for Slavisa Jokanovic's side. Cardiff's dramatic loss against Wolves last night means a top-two finish is still a distinct possibility if the Bluebirds get in a flap in the run-in.

A win for the Londoners today and they would be just two points behind the Welsh side - albit having played a game more.

Sheffield Wednesday might put a spanner in the works. Three consecutive wins have ended any relegation fears and is also their best run of the season.

They will need to keep big Aleksandar Mitrovic (pictured above) quiet. The Fulham striker has eight goals in his past eight games.

Five points outside the automatic promotion placed with only six games to go sounds like a tough ask, but Exeter are not out of the race yet in League Two.

With third-placed Wycombe having played one game more and not in action today, the Grecians will look to close the gap to Wanderers with victory against Cambridge this afternoon.

Just two points separate first from third in League One, so it's all still to play for in the third tier.

Second-placed Shrewsbury are helpless to stop rivals Wigan and Blackburn taking a stride towards the Championship today though, as they are not in action this weekend, having played one game more than leaders Rovers and two games more than the third-placed Latics.
