Norwich goalscorer Josh Murphy told Sky Sports: "We worked hard and got the result in the end. I think that was the best goal I have scored. I was delighted it went in."

Norwich midfielder James Maddison told Sky Sports: "I think Josh's goal will get better every time I look at it.

"It was a convincing win. We haven't done it enough this season. I didn't feel like we were ever under pressure even at 2-1.

"With the squad we have it is so frustrating to look at the league table. We haven't got much to play for but we will keep going."

A massive chance missed for Villa. Norwich did not perform like a side who had nothing to play for, but Villa lacked tempo for too long.

At 2-0 down Jack Grealish gave them hope, but Norwich were worthy winners.

Villa remain seven points behind Cardiff in the race for the top two.

A point is beyond Villa now, barring some ridiculous late drama. We are into the final minute of normal time.

Norwich should have had a fourth after a sweeping break.

    Norwich 3-1 Aston Villa

    Garry Thompson
Ex-Aston Villa striker on BBC WM 95.6

It looks game over, Villa were gambling pushing for the equaliser but they never set themselves.

You have got to be better organised then that even though they were going for it.

    It's too little too late.

  15. Postpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Norwich 3-1 Aston Villa

Villa are seeing plenty of the ball now. Jack Grealish is becoming increasingly influential.

But Norwich are dangerous on the break, and James Maddison has a shot deflected wide for a corner after a swift counter-attack.

There could well be more goals in this.

    Tom Bradshaw (88 mins)

From out of nowhere, Barnsley are back in front!

  17. Postpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Norwich 3-1 Aston Villa

Norwich could well have a case hat a couple of Villa players were in Angus Gunn's line of sight when Jack Grealish made it 2-1.

But it doesn't seem to matter as much now.

We have just under 15 minutes remaining for Villa to salvage something at Villa Park.

    It's a huge ask.

    Game over?

That's such brilliant awareness from Josh Murphy, who has a second assist to add his stunning goal.

Murphy runs straight down the middle but has the presence of mind to slip a pass to his left and James Maddison neatly controls the balls and shoots low into the bottom corner.
