    Lincoln 1-0 Shrewsbury

Lincoln's Danny Rowe goes on a run with the ball up the right flank and just keeps on going!

He launches a cross into the box after finding acres of space and finds Elliott Whitehouse who heads goalbound before Shrewsbury keeper Dean Henderson punches clear.

    Decent opening 25 minutes, this.

Oof! Shrewsbury could be on level terms! Shaun Whalley turns, dummies his marker and unleashes a shot on goal.

Unfortunately for the travelling Shrewsbury support, the ball travels just wide of the mark.

  3. Imps riding their luck?published at 20 mins

Lucky Lincoln got away with two close shaves in the first 10 minutes.

First, when Bryn Morris' superbly struck left foot half-volley clipped the top of their bar.

Then again when big striker Matt Rhead got away with only a booking for his challenge on Town keeper Dean Henderson, having clearly led with his elbow.

Now, out of nowhere, they score past the groggy Town keeper - is it destined to be the Imps' day?

Dean Henderson gets back on his feet and he's cleared to play on, fortunately.

The game gets back under way, but television replays show Matt Rhead was lucky to stay on the pitch after that challenge.

    Lincoln 0-0 Shrewsbury

Moments later, Matt Rhead cynically clatters into Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who remains down receiving treatment.

Rhead goes into the book. It's a nasty challenge and completely uncalled for. He's not even looking at the ball. Boos ring around Wembley.

What a story this is. Can Danny and Nicky Cowley cap off a memorable return to the national stadium?

There are shouts for a penalty from the Lincoln fans as Matt Rhead goes down in the box but it's waved away. Replays show Rhead, if anything, brought down Shrewsbury's James Bolton.

It's a very slick playing surface at Wembley after north London experienced a lot of rain prior to kick-off.

Omar Beckles is unfazed about this and gallops into the Lincoln box, forcing a tackle to win a corner which meets Bryn Morris who fires against the crossbar from long range.

The song - which features the lyrics 'there's only one Jack Notty' - is sung to the tune of Winter Wonderland, with the word winter changed for Wembley.

It might not really be too much of a form pointer but, if Shrewsbury were to lose at Wembley again this afternoon, then it might not be such good news either for unwitting Masters favourite Patrick Reed in his pursuit of a Green Jacket on the other side of the pond at Augusta

On the only other occasion the Town played in the Football League Trophy final, they lost 2-1 to Rotherham United on 14 April 1996.

But that was also the same day of one of sport's great stories - as Australian Greg Norman astonishingly let slip a six-shot overnight lead to lose the Masters to Nick Faldo. In the end, the vanquished Norman lost by five strokes.

Reed, by contrast, has only a three shot lead over Rory McIlroy!
