    Cardiff 0-0 Reading

Mmm, is winger Modou Barrow lucky to stay on the pitch for Reading here?

He has a bit of 'afters' with Cardiff's Lee Peltier as they both challenge for the same ball, and the former Swansea man appears to leave his knee in on Peltier's face as he steps away.

The referee simply gives both players a talking to. Nothing given.

There's a great noise and sense of anticipation at a Cardiff City Stadium bathed in sunshine.

Given the glorious weather, then, why is Reading manager Paul Clement wearing a jumper? All the big talking points covered here.

The atmosphere at St Andrew's sounds unbelievable - could that swing things today?

Birmingham have had a wretched couple of seasons and it's all gone off the boil since getting rid of Gary Rowett. Garry Monk has got them back on track but that result last week has dragged them back into trouble again.

It's a nervy situation and one Birmingham shouldn't be in.

Early booking at the Macron Stadium as Forest's Liam Bridcutt goes in the book for an off-the-ball incident directly in front of the assistant referee.

Nothing of note though yet in front of either goal.

    Cardiff 0-0 Reading

Cardiff have started brightly and there's a roar of expectation from the home fans every time they get the ball up towards the Reading box.

The Royals, by the way, know they'll be safe from relegation if they avoid defeat.

BBC Radio 5 live's Derm Tanner: "Talking to the Bolton fans today, you're getting a sense of hope struggling to overpower a sense of despair. The whole season has been a struggle from day one, with manager Phil Parkinson operating under a transfer embargo.

"They began the season with two points from 11. October and November brought promotion form, and even with the sale of top scorer Gary Madine Bolton looked safe until a few weeks ago.

"But now all they can do is beat Forest and rely on others. They're hoping the crowd can help - the message in Phil Parkinson's programme notes is 'play your part'."

    Birmingham 0-0 Fulham

Just to remind you, Fulham are a point behind second-placed Cardiff and will be promoted if they better the Welsh club's result at home to Reading.

If Cardiff win, Fulham will finish third and will be involved in the play-offs.

Birmingham start the final day in 20th and will be safe if they avoid defeat against Slavisa Jokanovic's side.

Neil Warnock could make history today if he becomes the first manager in senior English football to win eight promotions. At the moment, he's tied with Dave Bassett, Graham Taylor and Jim Smith. That's what Neil's being hanging his hat on.

Eighteen months ago, he went into Cardiff, said he wanted this and everybody looked at him like he was stupid.

What a transformation. A £170m windfall could be Cardiff's today.

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Cardiff 0-0 Reading

They're under way at the Cardiff City Stadium on this massive final day in the Championship, under the heat of this warm May sunshine.

The visitors Reading kick things off.

Hold on to your hats, everyone. This could be a wild, wild ride over the next 90 minutes.

Fulham must rely on Reading doing them a favour at Cardiff if they're to finish second in the Championship.

As always on the final day of a league season, it's a day for keeping across phones and frantically searching for news of scores elsewhere.

It's less than 12 months since Jaap Stam led his Reading side out at Wembley for the Championship play-off final.

Indeed, the Royals even led in the penalty shoot-out against Huddersfield only to eventually lose out and have gone from being 90 minutes away from the Premier League to 90 minutes away from League One in a year.

Stam held on to his job until March when patience eventually ran out and Paul Clement was brought in.

Clement called Saturday's 4-0 home defeat by Ipswich "embarrassing" but with a trip to second-placed Cardiff today, could there yet be worse to come?

Bolton fans would have been forgiven for thinking their side was safe when they beat Aston Villa in snowy conditions on 17 March.

That result moved Wanderers six points clear of the bottom three and nine away from then 23rd-placed Burton.

However, six defeats and one draw from their following seven matches, including a damaging 2-0 loss against the Brewers last week, mean Phil Parkinson's side go into today's final game 23rd and needing a win to stay up.

Remarkably, this is the third time in five seasons that Birmingham City have gone into the final game of the season in relegation danger.

Lee Clark kept them up in 2013-14 and Harry Redknapp did the trick last season.

Garry Monk, Birmingham's third manager this season, will be hoping he can make it third time lucky.

Blues, who would have been safe with a draw at QPR last week, host promotion-chasing Fulham knowing a point will keep them up.

The grounds are filling up nicely ahead of kick-off at 12:30 BST across the division.

Cardiff fans are making their way inside at the Cardiff City Stadium.

At St Andrew's, where the hosts could go down today if results go against them and visitors Fulham are hoping to clinch second spot, it's a complete sell-out.

Burton Albion were bottom of the table on 10 April after a 5-0 home thumping by Hull City and relegation looked inevitable.

However, just when all seemed lost, the Brewers have won three successive matches, a run that has seen them relegate Sunderland and leapfrog Bolton.

They go into today's game in the final relegation place so they need to better the result of Barnsley to pull off a miraculous escape but in this form, would you bet against them?

It's been quite a season at Oakwell.

The Tykes were taken over by a consortium involving 'moneyball' pioneer Billy Beane in December, shortly before the sad death of previous owner Patrick Cryne.

In February, manager and Reds fan Paul Heckingbottom surprisingly left for rivals Leeds and was replaced by little-known Portuguese Jose Morais.

It's been more bad than good since Morais took over, but a win over Brentford last week means they go into today's final round of games out of the relegation zone, albeit on goal difference only.

It's a beautiful day in Cardiff. Warm sunshine, not a cloud in the sky.

Given Cardiff City's recent history of narrow failure, you could forgive their fans for feeling nervous today.

Since 2002, the Bluebirds have missed out on promotion via the play-offs on four occasions, with three of those in the past eight years.

This time, however, they will hope to secure their passage to the Premier League automatically.

And in Neil Warnock they have a manager who has won seven promotions during his career. Cardiff will have everything crossed that he seals a record eighth today.
