Tom: What a goal! Salah really is football's success story of the season.

Nick: Oooh glorious! Wonderful finish by Mo! The work by Firmino was fantastic, that's why he's LFC's most important player.

    Liverpool 2-0 Roma

The last time Liverpool were in a Champions League semi-final was 2008.

Can you name the three missing men from their line-up against Chelsea that night?

  6. Salah simply world-classpublished at 20:41 British Summer Time 24 April 2018

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield

Sadio Mane may have let Roma escape but there was no chance of Mo Salah making the same mistake - two bits of magical finishing from the Egyptian.

The game turned on its head once Liverpool got on one of those unstoppable rolls that have blown away so many teams this season and Roma - who looked like they had things under control - simply could not cope.

The Italians will be thinking just one away goal will put them right back in this. The problem they have is that Liverpool look like they will score every time they go forward.

  7. 'Only one result'published at 20:33 British Summer Time 24 April 2018

    Liverpool 2-0 Roma

    Robbie Fowler
Former Liverpool striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

A fantastic run and the finish is magnificent. One on one with the goalkeeper there is only going to be one result. Nestles into the goal at the Anfield Road end.

  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 24 April 2018

    Liverpool 2-0 Roma

It's the half-time interval in the Mo Salah show.

A standing ovation for Liverpool as they walk off for half time.

    Mohamed Salah

    Guess who...

    Of course it's Mo Salah.

Roma cannot cope with those high balls from the back as one picks out Salah, he plays a one-two with Roberto Firmino, breaks towards goal before calmly clipping the ball into the net.

What a season, what a player.

  10. Roma on the rackpublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 24 April 2018

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield

Liverpool are threatening to run riot here. Roma, so calm for the first 20 minutes, are suddenly being ripped apart and it was only thanks to the uncharacteristic waywardness of Sadio Mane that they survived until Mo Salah's goal.

The Italians will be happy to get in at half-time only one down.

Reece: Don't think I've ever loved a footballer as much as I love Mo Salah right now. The guy is a king. Not just an Egyptian one. But a King of Liverpool.

Si: That is why he is player of the year.

    Liverpool 1-0 Roma

Another ball over the top catches out the Roma defence - which is all over the place now - and Georginio Wijnaldum is in. He thumps an effort at goal but Alisson makes a good save to keep his side in this.

  17. 'Poor Roma marking'published at 20:24 British Summer Time 24 April 2018

    Liverpool 1-0 Roma

It is a free header, it's poor marking by Roma. Dejan Lovren has to do better, he cannot get those extra few inches in height.

Relentless stuff now as Dejan Lovren plants a header against the crossbar from a corner.

Roma can't cope. This could get very messy, very quickly for the visitors.

    Liverpool 1-0 Roma

    Robbie Fowler
Former Liverpool striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

He is phenomenal player. The man we all talked before the game, the man for the big occasion.

They way Liverpool have played, I think they have got more goals in them.

  20. goal

GOAL - Liverpool 1-0 Romapublished at 36 mins

    Mohamed Salah

    Who else?

It's been coming and it's Liverpool's Fab Three combining as Roma lose the ball inside their own half after good hustling by James Milner. Sadio Mane to Roberto Firmino, who finds Mohamed Salah and the forward superbly curls the ball into the far corner from the edge of the area.

Goal number 42 of an incredible season.
