  2. 'Can Madrid rely on luck again?'published at 22:17 British Summer Time 1 May 2018

Real Madrid 2-2 Bayern Munich (4-3 aggregate)

Ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand on BT Sport: "Real Madrid have used that experience and a huge, huge amount of luck. But four finals in five years says it all about this club.

"They get the job done, somehow. It wasn't pretty but they capitalised on mistakes made. They rode their luck but you have to do that."

Helles Mammut: Such riches of attacking talent, but it was the goalkeepers who made the ultimate difference

Olly: Kimmich is in tears, but in 10 years time he will have won multiple Champions League trophies, whether at Bayern or elsewhere. He's shown throughout this tournament that he's the best right back in the world, and he's only 23.

For spells tonight, Luka Modric was almost doubling up with Lucas Vazquez at right-back - not sure that's really the best use of the Croatia playmaker.

Dani Carvajal could be back for the final.

Some real impact subs in that game - Bayern striker Sandro Wagner touched the ball seven times and Real defender Nacho just three.

Ex-England midfielder Frank Lampard on BT Sport: "When you know you deserved to get the result, there's no worse feeling. It is not the Real Madrid of the last few years.

"They are at a lower level and they have relied on luck a few times in this competition. But I wonder, if they can do it again."

Real Madrid have won the last seven knockout rounds against German teams in the Champions League. The last German team to eliminate Real was Borussia Dortmund in 2012-13.

That's probably Jupp Heynckes' last game in the Champions League - unless the legendary Bayern Munich boss gets called out of retirement again to help them out as he did this season.

Niko Kovac is replacing him this summer. Fun fact - Heynckes' last game will the German Cup final against Eintracht Frankfurt. Their manager? Kovac in his final game before moving to Munich. Messy.

Anon: I've never seen a more undeserving team go through the Champions League final. Real Madrid were terrible in both legs.

Stu: Real Madrid have got to be the most luckiest team ever to reach a Champions League final.

For a guy whose time in Spain hasn't been deemed to be a big success, Gareth Bale is bidding to win his fourth Champions League in five seasons.

  13. Ronaldo set to equal another recordpublished at 21:56 British Summer Time 1 May 2018

Cristiano Ronaldo will equal Paolo Maldini's record of six Champions League finals (presuming he doesn't get injured in the next 25 days).

    Paolo Maldini - 6

Cristiano Ronaldo - 5 (for now)

    Patrice Evra - 5

    Clarence Seedorf - 5

Edwin van der Sar - 5

Metin: Bayern Munich. Always the bridesmaid recently, never quite the bride.

Mark: The Bayern München players have only themselves to blame for their self inflicted failure to progress to the final.

Kris: Bayern made 2 defensive mistakes and Real scored due to each of them over the tie, whereas Real didn’t make any, that’s why they’re in the final

Spare a thought for Sven Ulreich, whose error ultimately cost Bayern Munich.

He's been number one this season because of Manuel Neuer's long-term injury but the Germany legend is due to return soon, so Ulreich will be leaving the limelight again.

  16. 'Real take their chances'published at 21:53 British Summer Time 1 May 2018

Real Madrid 2-2 Bayern Munich (4-3 agg)

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

Ronaldo hasn't come to life, Benzema has got more to offer, Bale might play in the final.

Real Madrid have got quality players, I just think Zidane got the balance wrong tonight, Modric at right-back at times, I didn't get that

The one thing is, they haven't played well but scored four goals over the two legs. Give them chances, they will take them.

  17. Postpublished at 21:51 British Summer Time 1 May 2018

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard on BT Sport: "It was desperate at times tonight. Real were hanging on and they were all over the place at the back.

"Bayern will have regrets because they were dominant and looked like the far better team for me. You look at the Liverpool team and where they are strong and they can really hurt this Real Madrid team."

  18. 'Lewandowski and Muller squandered chances'published at 21:48 British Summer Time 1 May 2018

Real Madrid 2-2 Bayern Munich (4-3 agg)

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

We keep taking about Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller being world class. They score goals and goals for their national teams and Bayern.

Tonight they haven't put the ball in. They had chances, been in great positions and they haven't put the ball in.

Keylor Navas made eight saves in the game, the highest tally for a Real Madrid keeper goalkeeper in a Champions League knockout game this decade.

He was probably the difference between Real winning and losing today.
