While Melissa Lawley was Manchester City's best outlet in the first half, Georgia Stanway is making her mark on this tie now.

She goes on a weaving run but is stopped just outside the Lyon area.

The hosts have Nadia Nadim, Jane Ross and Claire Emslie on their bench - will we see any of them soon?

    Manchester City 0-0 Lyon

A slick move from Lyon almost leads to a goal.

Eugenie Le Sommer gets the ball out wide but Manchester City goalie Karen Bardsley dives on her cross to thwart the danger.

The English side have a free-kick centrally, around 35 yards out, but Steph Houghton is inches away from meeting Georgia Stanway's lofted ball into the box.

I can feel the tension starting to grow.

  4. CLOSE!published at 53 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 Lyon

It's been a sloppy few minutes from Manchester City.

Jennifer Beattie fails to control a pass across the back and Eugenie Le Sommer volleys at goal, but Karen Bardsley gets down to hold the ball.

Another warning sign from Lyon, who mean business now.

The visitors have started this second with purpose, penning Manchester City back in their own half.

But still, keeper Karen Bardsley hasn't had much to do on her return to the side.

  6. Second halfpublished at 46 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 Lyon

Lyon are stood waiting and the Manchester City players trudge out from the changing room.

They stick to their usual huddle before kick-off, and won't be rushed by their visitors.

But we are now under way for the second half.

    HT: Manchester City 0-0 Lyon

The Lyon players have been sent out early and they're making a change before the start of the second half.

The ineffective Shanice van de Sanden is off and replaced by Kheira Hamraoui.

Manchester City should be ready for a reaction from their French opponents.

  8. English league's development 'amazing'published at 14:02 British Summer Time 22 April 2018

    Chelsea v Wolfsburg (18:05 BST)

This is the first season in which two English clubs have made the last four of the Champions League. Another sign of the growing English game? Wolfsburg head coach Stephan Lerch thinks so.

"In my opinion, the German league is still the best league. The teams in Germany are very close to each other," Wolfsburg head coach Stephan Lerch told BBC Sport.

"But we've all seen the amazing development in England. A lot of Europe's top players, and also the top players from England, want to play in England for great clubs, because they have great facilities."

    Chelsea v Wolfsburg (18:05 BST)

Wolfsburg have knocked Chelsea out of the Women's Champions League in each of the past two seasons, but the Blues look well-equipped to make it an unwanted trio of losses to the German giants.

Emma Hayes' side are chasing a possible treble - they will play Arsenal in May's FA Cup final and are also three points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Women's Super League.

Manchester City finished the half as the stronger team.

The midfielders are working so hard, they're putting in the tackles and upsetting Lyon.

Hopefully that continues, but City are certainly going to have to keep that up.

And there we go - we're midway through this Champions League semi-final first leg.

Manchester City will be pleased not to have conceded an away goal so far... they were 2-1 down to Lyon at this point of their last four tie last season.

The French side have been marginally the better side, Wendie Renard and Eugenie Le Sommer going close, but it's all to play for.

One minute added on at the end of this first half.

It's fizzled out a little bit in this last five minutes - it's a warm day in Manchester, after all!

    Manchester City 0-0 Lyon

A rare break from Manchester City sees Jill Scott and Nikita Parris involved, but neither can really get the ball out of their feet to trouble the Lyon keeper.

The French side are by no means unbeatable, as one or two small defensive lapses have shown.

  15. CLOSE!published at 42 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 Lyon

Lyon spurn another good opportunity and this time it falls to striker Eugenie Le Sommer.

Selma Bacha gets to the byline and puts in a low cross but Le Sommer prods wide at the near post.

Manchester City could probably do with half-time coming.

(Manchester City manager) Nick Cushing will be really pleased compared to this game last year, when City were put under real pressure.

They've had to defend well and be competitive, but there's only been that Wendie Renard header which Karen Bardsley would have covered anyway, so City will be really pleased.

For Lyon's standards, they haven't been on it at all.

    Manchester City 0-0 Lyon

Lyon centre-back Wendie Renard should really have given the French side the lead.

The towering defender meets a corner at the near post but flicks it over from just a few yards out.

A let off for Manchester City, and they should be more than aware of her threat from set-pieces.

That Lucy Bronze challenge has sparked a few tasty tackles as the edge to this Champions League semi-final first leg ratches up a notch.

Manchester City have settled into this tie now and are matching the reigning champions player for player.

They need to be wary of Lyon striker Ada Hegerberg, however - she has 14 goals in this year's competition and is a box of tricks.
