  1. 'You don’t remember the ones you lose'published at 22:49 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

    Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool

Former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard speaking on BT Sport: "I’ve won one and lost one. You don’t remember the ones you lose. At the end of the day those two mistakes have been pivotal to the result.

"Liverpool have played well tonight. Losing Mo Salah had a psychological effect on everyone and Madrid came good from there.

"We spoke about experience before the game, know-how on the big stage and the Madrid players being more switched on. The first goal is a keeper in a rush.

"It's a rush of blood to the head, all he had to do was stay calm and he's made a mistake and been punished."

  4. 'This team is magnificent'published at 22:42 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

Real Madrid v Liverpool (19:45 BST)

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, speaking to BT Sport: "Great emotions. To lift three Champions League trophies with this club, this team is magnificent. We don't quite realise what we have achieved yet.

"We are going to enjoy the moment. We had a complicated season but to finish with this makes us really happy.

"I have had a little bit of time to think about what this means. This is the status of this club. It is a legendary club, one that has won 13 Champions Leagues and I am happy to be a part of its history too."

Was Bale's goal better than yours against Leverkusen? "It is not the same thing but it is just the latest thing we have witnessed. It was magnificent."

  5. Klopp's toughest defeatpublished at 22:41 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

    Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard speaking on BT Sport: "Out of the six [final defeats] this will be Jurgen Klopp's toughest - just the way it's happened. He's done everything right, the manager.

"He's prepared his team well throughout the campaign and he set them up well tonight. Tactically they were very good, they looked dangerous, they were full of energy and he loses his best player who has been phenomenal all season.

"That goes against them and for the keeper to make the two mistakes that he did - everything went against Liverpool that could."

  7. 'The second mistake is because of the first'published at 22:37 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

    Liverpool

Asked if Mohamed Salah's World Cup is in doubt, boss Jurgen Klopp told BT Sport: "Yes, unbelievable. It is very serious, it is with his shoulder.

"He would have tried to play on [if he could have] but I have not seen him. He is possibly in hospital for an X-ray. It does not look good."

On his goalkeeper's mistakes: "Loris Karius knows it, everybody knows it. That is a shame in a game like this, in a season like this. I feel for him, he is a fantastic boy. The second mistake is because of the first one.

"The bad parts are difficult to get rid of in a game like this. Gareth Bale's bicycle kick was unbelievable. We did what we could and the boys tried everything but it was not the best script for us.

"Everything was great until tonight. You go to the final to win it, it was proper chance for us and we did not take it."

  8. 'What can I say about the goals?'published at 22:36 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

    Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told BT Sport: "The plan is only to play to win, nothing else, not a lot to say. We started well and played exactly like we wanted to.

"The situation with Sergio Ramos [and Mohamed Salah] looked really bad and it was a shock for the team, we lost the positive momentum and they immediately came up.

"We dropped deep and we could not get to Luka Modric or Toni Kroos. We had to run and work, we did that and half-time came. What can I say about the goals? We scored one, they scored three."

Amrul: Jurgen Klopp the ultimate bridesmaid.

Tony: Yeah Karius cost Liverpool bigtime, but I'm not sure Klopp had a Plan B after Salah went off

Yousuf: We can talk all about Karius but when last did Klopp win a final. His management of such games need to be questioned

  10. 'We were sat here gobsmacked'published at 22:31 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

    Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand speaking on BT Sport: "I'd have gone off on a stretcher [if I'd tried Gareth Bale's bicycle kick]. Zidane's was great but that one from Gareth Bale... we were sat here gobsmacked.

"There'll be kids who say 'I was here' when they remember that goal from Bale. It makes people just jump out of their seats."

Here's more from Egyptian football journalist Marwan Ahmed on the BBC World Service’s Sportsworld programme - talking about Mohamed Salah’s injury.

"He’s the greatest player in Egypt’s history," says Ahmed.

"We haven’t reached the World Cup for 28 years and we’re just too close for all of our dreams to be shattered. He’s the only player who can make a difference in the Egyptian national team and all Egyptians will be praying in this holy month for his safe return and praying that he’ll be fit enough to play for Egypt in the World Cup.”

Pepe: I am a huge huge Liverpool fan and that hurt. That sucked, but life goes on. Pick yourself up and carry on. YNWA Karius, we are behind you.

Nick: I feel so sorry for Karius, he's been playing so well but it'll be a tough summer. I fully stand by his talent and the belief he can be a top goalkeeper. He can use this as motivation and prove everyone wrong.

    Real Madrid

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric speaking to BT Sport: "It is something unbelievable, something historic. I don't know if anyone will repeat this in the future. Twice was amazing, this is historic.

"We watched a movie yesterday about basketball teams like the Chicago Bulls, the Lakers and Boston Celtics and how they won it three or four times in a row and they called it a dynasty.

"They can call us a dynasty. It seems so easy to come here and win it but it’s so much hard work day in and day out. I don’t think anyone will repeat this."

This is a great achievement, but no, this Real Madrid is not one of the great sides. Not as the good as the Barcelona side with Xavi, Andres Iniesta, and Lionel Messi, it wasn't and isn't as good as that.
