    Russia 2-0 Saudi Arabia

Before the sub is made, Russia have another attack, Aleksandr Samedov finds Denis Cheryshev but his shot from the left-hand side of the box is blocked.

It's not Lionel Messi coming on, but it is a man who's been compared to him (apparently)...

    Russia 2-0 Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia are putting together a spell of possession, but it's all between their midfield and defence. I don't see how they are going to get back into this playing as they are.

They are readying a sub. I hope for their sake it's Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

Russia don't deserve to be four or five up, they have not done enough. The fitness levels don't seem to be up to scratch.

Russia have to score more as other teams in this group may score five or six against Saudi Arabia.

    Russia 2-0 Saudi Arabia

Free-kick to Saudi Arabia, which Taiseer Al Jassam takes and Salman Al Faraj heads wide. He was offside anyway.

They've had four shots - two blocked and two off target. The only two shots on target in this game have been goals.

  7. 'Saudi Arabia do not have the ability'published at 17:18 British Summer Time 14 June 2018

    Russia 2-0 Saudi Arabia

    Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle striker on BBC Radio 5 live

I just don't think Saudi Arabia have the ability. If they are playing like this against a Russia side that has been criticised in the build-up to the match, then they are going to struggle in this tournament.

They are just not used to playing at this level with this intensity, and against this physicality.

I've easily seen higher quality Football League games than this.

    Russia 2-0 Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia are inches away from being back in this game. Salman Al Faraj plays in a great cross from the right which Mohammed Al Sahlawi and Taiseer Al Jassam are so close to turning home.

Aleksandr Samedov plays a high ball over the top to Denis Cheryshev, whose cross is held - at the second attempt - by Abdullah Al-Mayoof.

    Russia 2-0 Saudi Arabia

    Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Saudi Arabia have got to try and get someone closer to the striker, Mohammad Al Sahlawi. When they have the ball and they look up, there aren't many options ahead of play.

    Russia 2-0 Saudi Arabia

There are 37 teams above these two in the world rankings who are not at the World Cup - and most of them will be thinking they'd fancy their chances against either of these sides.

  13. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Russia 2-0 Saudi Arabia

Shoddy Saudi defending as they give Fedor Smolov plenty of time to shoot from the edge of his box but his 22-yard effort is well over the bar.

We are definitely looking at two of the worst teams in the tournament.

Robbie Williams might as well have taken that corner, as Saudi Arabia easily clear.

Corner to Russia - as Fedor Smolov gets the ball but the Saudis put it out of play. The crowd make plenty of noise - you'd swear Robbie Williams was singing again.

    Russia 2-0 Saudi Arabia

Nothing much happening in this half so far. Not sure I can see the Saudis getting back into this game, but then again I also thought that on Friday against Germany and they were unlucky not to draw that.

    Russia 2-0 Saudi Arabia

Salem Al Dawsari goes on a run early in the second half and passes it to a Russian. No changes for either side at the break.

Russia have controlled the game, but the Saudis have been poor. Smolov looks lively.
