Johnny: I hope Renard realises how wrong he was to start El Kaabi ahead of Boutaib. He’s been atrocious & has added nothing going forward. Boutaib needs to come on at half-time. Morocco should be up by at least one or two by now - how many more chances will they squander?

    Morocco 0-0 Iran

Iran keep the pressure on and win another free-kick in the Morocco half.

It's a fair way out but Iran look like they want to take another straight strike. Do they not rate Munir in the Morocco goal?

Left-back Ehsan Haji Safi marmalises a left-footed effort but it flies over.

Iran have sat in all game but that was the moment. The golden boy Azmoun fluffs his lines when he should have scored. Big opportunity wasted.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 43 mins

    Morocco 0-0 Iran

Morocco put together some neat passes just outside the Iran area but it's broken up and Iran surge foward.

A deft pass slides in Sardar Azmoun bearing down free on goal...saved! The Iran striker errs and hits it too close to Munir Mohamedi, who does well to stay big and block it.

The rebound falls to another Iran attacker but he can't get a clean hit on it and Munir flicks it up and away for a corner.

    Big miss for Iran.

Sardar Azmoun is not the quickest but he has good movement, and he will need it playing between Morocco's two centre-halves.

    Morocco 0-0 Iran

Iran get free down the right but a good covering tackle sends it out for a throw.

Morocco do well to block a shot and clear down the field before Ayoub El Kaabi collides with his marker to concede a free-kick.

Zac: Iran will take long balls over the top all day long. I feel they could snatch a goal at some point.

Ooh close. Hakim Ziyech and Amine Harit have switched wings for Morocco, with the former now on the left.

The Ajax man fires over a wicked cross that just evades the head of Ayoub El Kaabi.

During the delay in play, the TV cameras scan over the crowd.

I can't see the vuvuzelas. But I can hear them.

Iran striker Sardar Azmoun has gone to ground off the ball. No foul play, he looks to have tweaked his ankle.

The physio is on with the magic spray. It looks like he will be OK to continue.

Morocco have just forced it too much in the last 15 minutes and it has allowed Iran to look a little more comfortable.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh wants to have a go...

...and he belts it miles over. Woeful.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 34 mins

    Morocco 0-0 Iran

Iran finally win a midfield battle and Sardar Azmoun skips forward, with Karim El Ahmadi nipping at his heels.

Azmoun goes down - a bit easily - but it's enough for El Ahmadi to be shown a yellow.

Can Iran do anything with this? A free-kick over 35 yards out...

Iran get a free-kick in a decent area and swing it into the area, the ball breaks to Rouzbeh Cheshmi but his strike loops high and wide.

Morocco appeal for handball - it did strike Cheshmi high on the arm as he tried to bring it down. Could've been one for VAR had he scored there.

Amine Harit skips past a few Iran defenders into the area and shapes to bend it inside the far post but can only hit it straight at Alireza Beiranvand in the Iran net.

I identified Alireza Jahanbakhsh as Iran's star man before the match.

He's just done his first significant thing in it - and it's to give away a foul.

The Iran winger looks very frustrated at the lack of service.

Aleksandr: Is it just me or is that vuvuzelas I can hear among the crowd??

N4lum: Oh no the dreaded Vuvuzela is back!!

Henry: Completely forgot how good a well-tuned vuvuzela can sound.

    Morocco 0-0 Iran

Iran are throwing bodies in front of everything, Burnley-style.

Two more Morocco strikes are met with diving blocks, the second a fierce drive by Younes Belhanda that cracks off Rouzbeh Cheshmi's knee and then into his arm.

Never a handball though and on we go.
