'We deserve to go out'published at 17:58 British Summer Time 27 June 2018
17:58 BST 27 June 2018South Korea 2-0 Germany
Germany manager Joachim Low: "The disappointment of being eliminated is just huge.
"I think first of all we need to congratulate our two opponents who have made it out of the group.
"At this tournament we didn’t deserve to win again or move to the round of 16. We were eliminated not because we didn’t want to win but we never had the chance to take a lead at any point – we were always lagging behind, trying to keep up.
"We saw Sweden had taken the lead so we needed to keep the pressure up but our team was missing the ease of play and the classiness we usually have. So, we deserve to be eliminated yes."

From the 5 minutes I managed to watch Germany were extremely poor but a great result for Korea. Good to see Ozil's form from Arsenal carrying over into the World Cup... It's coming home!

Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 liveI think there will be big scrutiny on Joachim Low and he has to go. He has chopped and changed, but good teams have continuity. When you make changes, the players have to come in and perform, but they were flat today.

Imran: Wow! Germany out of the World Cup at the group stage. Shocking but well played South Korea and VAR was spot on!
Andrew: Germany looked like a team bereft of confidence and ideas. Joachim Low has done so much for the side in past tournaments, but he might have taken therm as far as he can, it looks to have become stale
Nikhil: Other than Germany crashing out, no one imagined that Sweden will top the group
'Dressing room atmosphere not right'published at 17:52 British Summer Time 27 June 2018

Didier Drogba
Phoenix Rising and former Ivory Coast striker on BBC OneI think the atmosphere is not right in the dressing room. We know about Ozil and Gundogan meeting the Turkish president, and Germany not being united since that matter. Then you see the results, it is something you can see happening. One day this is going to catch you.
'Lack of energy and hunger'published at 17:51 British Summer Time 27 June 2018

Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle striker on BBC OneJoachim Low has been very loyal to the senior players. At the Confederations Cup, they took a young team and he brought the experienced ones back. I am amazed at the lack of energy and hunger this team showed.
'Historic disgrace'published at 17:50 British Summer Time 27 June 2018
17:50 BST 27 June 2018South Korea 2-0 Germany
"It is a historic disgrace!" reads the headline on Spiegel, external.
The German press is going in hard.
They seem to think the number of changes 'unsettled' Germany - in particular, Thomas Muller's drop to the bench.

Jens: Rest of the German team are a disgrace more so than Neuer. Their poor play is what put Germany into such a desperate position, so no blame on Neuer from me.
Freddie: It's taken eight years but finally some justice for that Frank Lampard no goal. It's coming home.
Richard: Couldn't be happier with the Group F result. I have waited 22 years to see Germany do so badly.

17:48 BST 27 June 2018You named South Korea goalkeeper Cho Hyun-woo as your man of the match.
No Korean got under 8.14. No German ranked above 3.17.
'I've never had a perfect game like that before'published at 17:46 British Summer Time 27 June 2018
17:46 BST 27 June 2018South Korea goalkeeper Cho Hyun-woo: “I’ve never had a perfect game like this before, all my career. I wasn’t saving all the shots by myself today - the other keepers and were also giving me some hands.
"All of the Korea players, and also the head coach, were playing for the Korean people, we all become one for the Korean people. It was only after the match that we realised the score and of course we were disappointed, so that’s why a lot of us cried."
'I feel great but a bit empty'published at 17:45 British Summer Time 27 June 2018
17:45 BST 27 June 2018South Korea boss Shin Tae-yong: "I feel great but at the same time I feel a little bit empty, so I feel a little bit ambivalent.
"Yesterday we said there was only a 1% chance and so I told my players it really was a last-ditch effort for them and I told them that they had to fight until the end.
"Germany are the defending champions and number one in the Fifa Ranking, so I thought about what mistakes Germany might make, because they probably felt they would be able to beat us – that’s what everybody thought. I thought we could use that as a reverse strategy and that has really hit the nail on the head."
'A very bitter evening'published at 17:43 British Summer Time 27 June 2018
17:43 BST 27 June 2018Germany defender Mats Hummels told ZDF: "It is a very bitter evening for us and for all German football fans.
"The situation is very difficult to put into words. We did not put the ball in the net, even though we had plenty of opportunities, including myself in the 86th minute - I have to score from chances like that.
"We believed in it until the very end, we tried to shoot, but we just couldn't get the ball in. We had plenty of opportunities, we broke our necks trying out there today.
"We put ourselves in this situation after the Mexican game. The last game we delivered a good performance was in the autumn of 2017."

Archie Rhind-Tutt
Football journalist on BBC Radio 5 liveThis will be the end of an era for many of the players. Hummels will probably not be around in Qatar, nor will Muller. I think it shows that the young players coming through the system are not as good as that generation in 2010.
