That was a real clobbering to the jaw of Jesse Lingard, and he's going through some concussion protocol which is very good to see. I think he's going to be OK though.

Go and blast it in the first 10 minutes. Panama will not be used to playing high tempo and we'll create chances. After that we can dictate the pace of the game.

Panama are playing like a back six from the off but England still get round the back and put in a low cross, Jesse Lingard takes a poor touch though and the chance has gone.

Lingard takes a whack to the jaw for his troubles. Ouch.

Nick: This is the first World Cup I've actively wanted England to do well, this group of young men are the best role models for a generation, they've done their preparation well, and most importantly they look like a team, not a group of individuals.

Carpenterdfnow: This is either going to be an easy 5-0 to England or a last minute own goal for a lucky England win.

A, externallex Haworth: England to win 4-0. Even Raheem Sterling to score.

But Panama take it on the emotional front. Eyes closed almost to a man, slightly leaning back, booming out the lyrics.

Captain Roman Torres has managed to keep the tears in this time I think. Coach Hernan Gomez loving it.

A huge day for a proud nation.

    Frank Lampard
    Former England & Chelsea midfielder

Chelsea have potentially blocked Loftus-Cheek's route at the club by signing players in his position, but he has to be more ruthless when he returns to West London after the tournament. He is an England player who has to show Chelsea he can improve them moving forward.

Panama captain Torres reduced to tears by national anthem

Roman Torres welled up in the opener during Himno Istmeno (Isthmian Hymn) - which refers to the fact Panama is an isthmus: a narrow strip of land with sea on either side, forming a link between two larger areas of land – in this case, Colombia and Costa Rica.

It was originally composed for school events by Spain-born Santos Jorge, who moved to Panama aged 19 and taught music. Lyrics were added by poet and diplomat Jeronimo de la Ossa. The upbeat song about patriotism was popularised following the declaration of independence from Colombia in 1903, and was officially adopted as the national anthem in 1925.
