    Panama 0-0 Tunisia

Naim Sliti is trying to make something happen here for Tunisia. Wahbi Khazri's lovely cushioned layoff falls into the path of the Lille forward - who spent last season on loan at Dijon - but the first-time shot from 25 yards flies over the bar.

    Panama 0-0 Tunisia

Half-chance for Tunisia, as Naim Sliti gets past Adolfo Machado down the left and crosses low toward Fakhreddine Ben Youssef - but Fidel Escobar does just enough to put him off, and th eball runs through to goalkeeper Jaime Penedo.

Seconds later, Sliti tries an ambitious scissors kick - too ambitious, as the ball trickles away.

    Panama 0-0 Tunisia

Wahbi Kahzri, going absolutely nowhere down the right for Tunisia, is blocked off illegally as Ricardo Avila throws an arm across his chest. Panama's discipline is showing no signs of improvement here. Iain Dowie, commentating on ITV4, describs it as "WWF defending". I think he means WWE. Then again, maybe not. Anyway, the free-kick is cleared.

Early free-kick for Panama. Let wrestling commence. Ricardo Avila whips the ball in, but it drifts straight to Aymen Mathlouthi, Tunisia's latest goalkeeper.

    Panama 0-0 Tunisia

Early block from Roman Torres, the Panama captain whose legs are a tattooed monument to his career success. Torres as a World Cup tattoo on his right calf, after scoring the goal that got his country to Russia, and an image of himself lifting the MLS Cup on his other leg - he scored the winning penalty for Seattle Sounders against Toronto two years ago. Where will he get a tattoo if he scores a winner tonight? Actually, don't answer that.

  11. 'We need to change the way we train'published at 18:54 British Summer Time 28 June 2018

    Panama v Tunisia (19:00 BST)

Tunisia coach Nabil Maaloul is a passionate, patriotic man - as anyone who has watched his reaction to the national anthem with testify - and he has sounded very hacked off at his team's failure to negotiate Group G.

"I don't think we have high quality performance," he said. "We need to change our lifestyle because it is not in line with high-level football. We need to change the way we train.

"We need two more generations to reach the top level of performance in terms of fitness and physical strength. We are far from the required level."

  12. 'Writing a page in the history books'published at 18:50 British Summer Time 28 June 2018

    Panama v Tunisia (19:00 BST)

Panama president Juan Carlos Varela declared a national holiday after Roman Torres' winner against Costa Rica sent Panama to their first World Cup finals. What would he do if they finished with a victory?

Head coach Hernan Dario Gomez has no doubts as to what an achievement that would be,

"We are again the underdogs but we want to take at least one point back to Panama," he said.

"We are still in the World Cup. We haven’t packed our bags yet and for us anything positive is important.

"To win and get three points would be pure happiness for us and the entire country. We would be writing a page in the history books so we still have a will to work."

    Panama v Tunisia (19:00 BST)

Tonight's game is live in the UK on ITV4, replacing what would have been almost certainly a repeat of Minder. So how do Terry and Arthur feel about being deposed?

Terry: “You said we’d be watching England v Belgium.”

Arthur: “I said we’d be going to the World Cup. I thought you liked football?”

    Terry: “Yeah, England football!”

Arthur: “You know, I thought those tickets were cheap when I bought them.”

Terry: “You said you’d paid top whack for them!”

Gomez left the Colombia job after that defeat by England in Lens - a match which has carved its own corner in pop history.

Kristy MacColl released the song 'England 2 Colombia 0' on Tropical Brainstorm, her final album, in 2000. The song is a tale of a woman who goes to watch the match on a date with a man she really likes - only to discover that he is married with three children.

    Much missed, is Kirsty.

That Tunisia v Romania match, which finished in a 1-1 draw, featured one of the World Cup's odder moments. Romania's players, already through to the knockout stages, decided to celebrate by all dyeing their hair blond before the game. Tony Gubba, the BBC commentator, somehow managed to negotiate his way through the nightmare assignment.

  16. When Tunisia, Gomez and England collide...published at 18:37 British Summer Time 28 June 2018

    Panama v Tunisia (19:00 BST)

Tunisia are playing their final World Cup group match at exactly the same time as England play theirs - and this is not the first time it has happened. Coincidentally, the last time, it was also in Group G.

At France 98, Tunisia exited with a 1-1 draw against Romania as England were beating Colombia 2-0. Colombia's coach that night? Hernan Dario Gomez... who is now in charge of Panama. Small world.

  19. An outfield player in goal?published at 18:31 British Summer Time 28 June 2018

    Ayman MathlouthiImage source, AFP

Three goalkeepers ought to be enough to see you through a World Cup finals - especially when your campaign only lasts for three matches.

However, Tunisia are running short. Mouez Hassen was ruled out of the tournament after injuring his shoulder in the opening match against England, and Farouk Ben Mustapha - who took over - suffered a knee injury in training on Tuesday.

That left only Aymen Mathlouthi available for tonight's game, with Fifa refusing to allow Moez Ben Cherifia, who plays for Tunisian club Esperance, to join the squad as a back-up.

So if anything happens to Mathlouthi tonight, it means an outfield player will have to go in goal. The word is Fakhreddine Ben Youssef, the forward who plays his club football in Saudi Arabia for Al-Ettifaq, will be the man who dons the gloves if that emergency arises.

    Panama v Tunisia (19:00 BST)

Tunisia use their third goalkeeper of the tournament - of which more in a moment - as Aymen Mathlouthi steps in for his 72nd cap, with Farouk Ben Mustapha having joined Mouez Hassen on the injured list on Tuesday.

There are six changes in total to the team beaten 5-2 by Belgium last Saturday. Dylan Bronn, who scored in the game, is injured, so Hamdi Nagguez steps in at right-back. Oussama Haddadi, the left-back, is making his competitive international debut.

Tunisia XI: Mathlouthi; Nagguez, Bedoui, Meriah, Haddadi; Chaalali, Shkiri, Sassi; F Ben Youssef, Khazri, Sliti.
