Garry Davenport: Best thing about the World Cup so far (and it’s been an amazing tournament) is Chris Sutton’s commentary and should be compulsory for him to commentate on *all* matches from now on. Bar set very high

Fish: The best 45 minutes of football I have ever watched. They way Belgium breaks must be worrying to any team. They will easily get past Brazil and England.

Javel Bleach: After these last 3 days I full expect tomorrow to end the Last-16 round with an insipid damp squib.

  2. 'Japan will regret last two minutes'published at 21:06 British Summer Time 2 July 2018

    Belgium 3-2 Japan

    Jurgen Klinsmann
    Former Germany head coach

Japan will regret the last two minutes because they threw everything forward and they were a little bit too open at the back. In the 94th minute, the players are tired and they are thinking about extra time, and that is when mistakes happen.

  3. 'Effective Fellaini'published at 21:05 British Summer Time 2 July 2018

    Belgium 3-2 Japan

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

Like him or hate him, Fellaini is effective. He makes it difficult for defenders and he attacks balls in and around the opposition box.

He knows Tristan. I'll tell him when he climbs away from the wreckage of his rewrite...

Emlyn Begley - you criticised Belgium for bringing on Chadli and Fellaini. What a mistake that was

    Tristan in Cornwall

This game has been absolutely incredible at one of the greatest World Cups ever. What a game. Magnificent second half. Japan can hold their heads high, two great goals but the depth, guts and character showed by Belgium was just a little too much. Japan surely this year's football love story?

    Belgium 3-2 Japan

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez: "You get pushed in games, let's congratulate Japan, they played the perfect game. They were clinical on the counter and so solid. It was a test of character and you see the reaction of our subs coming on to win the game. It tells you everything about this group of players.

"No negatives today, it was about getting through. It is a day to be very proud of these players. Keep believing in Belgium. In the World Cup you want to be perfect but it's about getting through, it's about winning."
