    France 0-0 Croatia

France just have no answer to Croatia's work rate at the moment, they do finally have a spell of possession but Olivier Giroud is stripped of the ball. Where there is Mbappe, there is hope though and his first touch in a dangerous position sees him skin his man and put a cross in.

Get him the ball! Antoine Griezmann then buys a free-kick in a dangerous position. Load the area up...

Space, pace - Ivan Perisic gets away down the left and puts in a low cross which Samuel Umtiti stretches to clear. Disappointing delivery, that was a good chance for Croatia to at least register a shot on goal.

The French supporters have just been heard for the first time in the game. And the French team are in the Croatian half for just about the first time in the game.

    Well, that didn't last long...

    France 0-0 Croatia

Didier Deschamps does finally step out of the dugout to the edge of the pitch. France have been so bad that they are beeing jeered now by - presumably - neutrals in the ground as they elect to go all the way back to Hugo Lloris from halfway.

Really, really slow and poor start from the favourites.

    Martin Keown
Former England defender on BBC One

Croatia look sharper all around the pitch and they know their roles and responsibilities. N'Golo Kante was dispossessed there a little too easily.

  10. 'France playing into Croatia's hands'published at 16:11 British Summer Time 15 July 2018

    France 0-0 Croatia

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

    Croatia are full of confidence.

Everyone thought that they would be tired and that's why I thought France would start quickly but France are playing into Croatia's hands.

    Deschamps surely can't be happy.

    France 0-0 Croatia

The last three goalkeepers to lose a World Cup final were playing for Monaco at the time, and Croatia's Danijel Subasic currently plays on the famous old car park.

Cursed? He hasn't had a jot to do yet as Ivan Rakitic and Luka Modric continue their best Xavi/Iniesta impressions. Bossing the ball.

A bright start for Croatia - they've had more possession and in enemy territory so far.

If I can borrow an old favourite from the rugby union section of the BBC Commentator's Cliche guide, 'you never know which French side are going to turn up.'

And they haven't yet. At all. Rabbits in headlights.

    Sir Trevor Brooking
Former England midfielder in Moscow for BBC Radio 5 live

Croatia have been excellent. They have been pressing and pushing and France haven't got the time on the ball that they were been expecting.

If I was a fan of Croatia I would be absolutely delighted with how they have started.
