Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Hurst told Sky Sports:

"It's very good with the form that Charlton have been in and a big crowd.

"I backed the players that they could handle that and the longer the game went on the more a threat we looked.

"I thought as an away team it was a very professional job, it's a boring cliche but it's only half time.

"It's certainly not over because we've given ourselves a very small advantage."

Shrewsbury Town captain Mat Sadler heaped praise on goalscorer Jon Nolan when speaking to Sky Sports:

"Jon's done that all season, he's got a knack of scoring good goals.

"But it’s very much half-time in the tie, we wanted to make sure going into the second leg that we were in it and it was all to play for and it certainly is.

"We've beaten them twice here they beat us once at home, so it's only half-time. That's the first 90 done."

Shrewsbury goalscorer Jon Nolan tells Sky Sports:

"We’re not going to get too ahead of ourselves. It's a positive result to come and get the win, but it's only half time."

On his goal: "It was a good finish and I was happy to see it go in the back of the net."

Despite forcing two corners in the final seconds and having a header from Jason Pearce cleared off the line Charlton fail to score and it'll be advantage Shrewsbury as they head into the second leg at the Montgomery Waters Meadow on Sunday.

Into the final minute - what can Charlton do?

Shrewsbury's final change sees goalscorer Jon Nolan come off for Lenell John-Lewis. Just a couple of minutes left now.

Close for Charlton. Ball into the area and Josh Magennis has a header which is well saved.

We will have four minutes of stoppage time and Charlton are preparing to bring on their big Polish striker Michal Zyro, who is on loan from Championship champions Wolves - he comes on for Nicky Ajose.

Substitution for Shrewsbury, Shaun Whalley coming off to be replaced by Joe Riley as the visitors look to secure the win with an extra defender.

Just a couple of minutes to go - what can Charlton do to try and salvage something from this first leg?

Shrewsbury had the fourth-best home record in the regular season, losing just five times at home, although Charlton had the fifth-best away record - so it could be tight when they meet again on Sunday.

Nick Clark: If you really think the team in third or fourth place should be favoured, I think you are not really in favour of play-offs. Surely if you want them to have an advantage, they should get promoted automatically like in the old days.

Steve C: Give teams a goal start for every three points they finished in front of the opposition. Any team more than 15 points ahead get a bye to the final.

That's Ben Reeves last action, he's coming off for youngster Joe Aribo, who was one of the four players who started the last match at Rochdale.
