That ends our coverage from sunny Shropshire tonight. Now the big question is whether Shrewsbury are ready to end their losing run at Wembley.

The last time they went up from this level, to the old Division Two under Graham Turner in 1979, it was the days when only automatic promotion existed - seven years before the play-offs were invented.

Since then, they have four times reached Wembley, including a 1996 Auto Windscreens Shield final defeat to Rotherham against a side that included Paul Hurst, now the Shrewsbury boss.

Their record reads played four, lost four - two of which were in League Two play-off finals. But can that all end in a fortnight's time? We'll see!

Shrewsbury skipper Mat Sadler tells Sky Sports:

“We deserved it over the two legs.

“We knew it would be tough as Charlton have got some good attacking players and gave it a real go.

“Hopefully we can top the 25,000 who watched us last time at Wembley and that they are as loud as they were tonight.”

Shrewsbury midfielder Ben Godfrey tells Sky Sports:

"It means everything and look what it means to the fans. We're going to the final and we're going to try to win it.

"We're looking forward to going back to Wembley. Maybe that defeat (by Lincoln in the Checkatrade Trophy final in April) was a bit of a learning curve."

Town book their second visit to Wembley this season on 27 May. They will now play the winners of the Rotherham-Scunthorpe semi, which concludes on Wednesday.

They must now hope for a better result than when they lost 1-0 to Lincoln City in the EFL Trophy.

Charlton knew they needed to take their chances. They didn't. And Carlton Morris did with a beautifully taken goal to take Shrewsbury back to Wembley.

Whether he should have still been on the pitch to do it, following his first-half elbow on Patrick Bauer, is another matter!

It should be 3-0 on aggregate. Jon Nolan and Stefan Payne contrive an incredible miss between them. Credit to keeper Ben Amos for showing some determination to make a scrambling save but, on a two to one break upfield like that, they know they should have scored.

Shaun Whalley goes off to a deserved standing ovation. He did so well to set up the goal for Carlton Morris (being celebrated in the above picture!) and always looked a threat.

Mention Charlton and the play-offs... and you think of a Clive Mendonca hat-trick, drawing 4-4 at Wembley, then beating Sunderland 7-6 on penalties to reach the Premier League after Sasa Ilic's heroics in the shootout.

It's going to take something as spectacular as that, 20 years ago now, to rescue this one!

This is Charlton's first venture in the play-offs since 2010, when they lost out to Swindon on penalties in the League One play-off semi-final, the last time they spent time down at third-tier level.

It looks like their interest this season might end at the same stage.

Goal hero Carlton Morris goes off. 14-goal top scorer Stefan Payne comes on for the hosts. How differently it might have turned out for him tonight if the ref had spotted that first-half elbow!

There was brief cause for concern immediately after the goal as stewards and police struggled to keep the two sets of fans apart. It looks to have thankfully cooled down now but there is a fluorescent yellow wall keeping them apart.

Striker Sullay KaiKai comes on for Charlton. They know all about him here at Shrewsbury after scoring 12 goals in two previous prolific loan spells at the Meadow in 2015-16.

He replaces Tarique Fosu-Henry, Charlton's second sub in the wake of putting on Stephy Mavididi for Nicky Ajose following the Shrewsbury goal.
