Shrewsbury 0-0 Charlton (1-0 on aggregate)

Charlton mount the first serious attack of the second half but the danger is cleared by a headed challenge from Ben Godfrey on Jake Forster-Caskey, which left the Charlton player on the deck in the box looking understandably bemused.

    • Liverpool, for whom Mo Salah scored his 32nd league goal of the season, secured the fourth Champions League spot with a convincing home win over Brighton.

Shrewsbury 0-0 Charlton (1-0 on aggregate)

A first half in which Charlton carried the greater attacking threat and had the upper hand. But it's still their keeper Ben Amos who has been the busier, twice saving at his near post from Alex Rodman.

Shrewsbury 0-0 Charlton (1-0 on aggregate)

The artful Alex Rodman denied at the near post by Charlton keeper Ben Amos. Neat move involving Carlton Morris and Jon Nolan.

  8. Postpublished at 42 mins

Shrewsbury 0-0 Charlton (1-0 on aggregate)

A noticeably more muted noise from the home fans as half time approaches. Their hopes hang on a knife edge here. And there have been too many moments of concern so far.

  9. Charlton penalty appeal turned downpublished at 38 mins

Shrewsbury 0-0 Charlton (1-0 on aggregate)

Huge penalty shout. Veteran Shrewsbury defender Mat Sadler's right arm blocks a ball from the wriggling Joe Aribo inside the six-yard box.

    Blatant spot-kick but not given!

  11. Postpublished at 32 mins

Shrewsbury 0-0 Charlton (1-0 on aggregate)

Nicky Ajose almost on to a far post volley but Shrewsbury clear their lines with some determined defending. As expected, the Addicks are carrying the greater attacking threat. But they have to score. Shrewsbury don't!

  12. Postpublished at 28 mins

Shrewsbury 0-0 Charlton (1-0 on aggregate)

Great battling down the left flank sets up another Charlton opening but not enough hunger in the box from the Addicks.

  13. Postpublished at 25 mins

Shrewsbury 0-0 Charlton (1-0 on aggregate)

Chances at the other end for Charlton from another set-piece, but Tarique Fosu's volley is blocked and Jake Forster-Caskey then balloons over.

Not much in the way of quality football, as you'd expect, in any tense play-off tie, but plenty of interesting challenges flying in. Very competitive first 20 minutes!

  16. Postpublished at 17 mins

Shrewsbury 0-0 Charlton (1-0 on aggregate)

Town striker Carlton Morris is a very lucky man. He has just elbowed Charlton defender Patrick Bauer. The ref missed it!

Straightaway, home midfielder Jon Nolan goes in late on Jake Forster-Caskey. The home side need to tread carefully here.

  17. Postpublished at 15 mins

Shrewsbury 0-0 Charlton (1-0 on aggregate)

Second set piece in quick succession for Charlton. Worried looks on home faces but it's a poor delivery from Jake Forster-Caskey.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 11 mins

Shrewsbury 0-0 Charlton (1-0 on aggregate)

Alex Rodman's sharp turn and left foot shot forces a save from Ben Amos. It may not have gone in, but the Charlton keeper was not taking any chances. That followed an attacking thrust down the right flank from Town's other winger Shaun Whalley.

  19. Postpublished at 9 mins

Shrewsbury 0-0 Charlton (1-0 on aggregate)

It's a lovely mid May evening in Shropshire. And already it's looking warm work out there. Still neither side yet to make a telling move though.

Typical start to any play-off game. Both sides cagey and cautious. Like a game of chess.
