  3. Away goals don't count doublepublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 13 May 2018

    Shrewsbury v Charlton (17:15 BST)

Charlton Athletic might be owned by a Belgian in Roland Duchâtelet, they have a big German defender in Patrick Bauer and a Dutch midfielder, Anfernee Dijksteel - but there's no continental flavour about how this contest will be settled tonight.

Unlike in two-leg European ties, away goals in this competition do NOT count double. So, if it did end up with Charlton winning by a single goal at the end of 90 minutes, we would need extra time and possibly penalties.

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer has made three changes.

Midfielders Anfernee Dijksteel, Joe Aribo and Tariqe Fosu-Henry all come in for a Charlton side who know they have to score to have a chance of progressing to the final at Wembley.

Charlton: Amos, Dijksteel, Bauer, Pearce, Dasilva, Konsa, Aribo, Ajose, Fosu, Magennis, Forster-Caskey.

Subs: Kashi, KaiKai, Reeves, Phillips, Mavididi, Sarr, Zyro.

  5. Shrewsbury unchangedpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 13 May 2018

    Shrewsbury v Charlton (17:15 BST)

Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Hurst has named an unchanged side from Thursday's first leg at The Valley.

Shrewsbury: Henderson, Bolton, Sadler, Nsiala, Beckles, Godfrey, Whalley, Bryn Morris, Nolan, Rodman, Carlton Morris.

Subs: Riley, Lowe, John-Lewis, MacGillivray, Jones, Eisa, Payne.

  6. 'Addicks must take chances'published at 17:05 British Summer Time 13 May 2018

    Shrewsbury v Charlton (17:15 BST)

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer was frustrated after the first leg, pointing out how many chances his side created early on at The Valley.

"We could have scored three goals in the first 10 minutes," he said. "If we take one, we go on and win comfortably. But they weathered the storm.

"Now we've got 90 minutes to score two and keep a clean sheet, so is it possible? For sure it's possible.

"Is the game over? No, not by a long way."

The need for Bowyer's side to show patience is never better expressed by the fact that it was late on when his side scored their two goals in their league win at the Meadow just 30 days ago when their strikes came from Jason Pearce, on 74 minutes, and 10-goal top scorer Josh Magennis, in the eighth minute of injury time.

  7. Shrewsbury start favouritespublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 13 May 2018

    Shrewsbury v Charlton (17:15 BST)

Shrewsbury were ranked last in the betting when the whole 46-game League One campaign kicked off last August.

Despite then spending the majority of the season in the top two, only to finish third, 16 points clear of Charlton, Paul Hurst's Town were then again rated outsiders by the bookmakers when they went into the play-offs. Last of the four contenders!

Possibly, their run of just two wins in nine games (including a Wembley EFL Trophy final defeat by League Two side Lincoln City) was the reason for that as Town struggled to come to terms with the loss of inspirational skipper Abu Ogogo.

Thursday's 1-0 win in south-east London has now made them favourites to reach the Championship. But you will not hear Town boss Hurst admitting that. They have not even made the final yet. And, in terms of this semi, 'It's only half time' is the mantra of the highly rated young manager.

"Charlton have got individual players who can produce a bit of magic out of anything," he said. "Any team equipped like that is a dangerous one."

  8. The EFL Play-offs: Day Fourpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 13 May 2018

    Shrewsbury v Charlton (17:15 BST)

Good evening and welcome to Shropshire.

It was Charlton Athletic and Shrewsbury Town that got this year's EFL play-offs and running when they met last Thursday night in the first leg of the first League One semi-final.

When they reassemble three days on from The Valley, on what looks set to be a pleasant Sunday evening in Salop, it is tonight's hosts who hold a 1-0 lead.

Jon Nolan's 80th-minute strike has given Town the advantage, but the locals will be wary that all three of this season's previous meetings between these two sides have resulted in an away win.

And a repeat of Charlton's 2-0 victory less than a month ago would see Lee Bowyer's Addicks through.
