That brings an end to our coverage of today's League One play-off final.

Rotherham are back in the second tier, joining Premier League-bound Fulham in tasting success at Wembley this weekend.

Tomorrow it is the League Two play-off final, with Coventry City and Exeter City meeting at 15:00 BST.

The Sky Blues are aiming for a first promotion since 1967 while Exeter are bidding to return to League One after relegation in 2012.

Defender Richard Wood scored twice as Rotherham beat Shrewsbury after extra-time at Wembley to seal an immediate return to the Championship, after the Millers missed a first-half penalty.

Rotherham midfielder David Ball tells Sky Sports:

"It means everything to me personally. It's taken me seven years to get back to the Championship.

"The goalkeeper went early for my penalty - it wasn't a great height - and I was obviously disappointed. But the lads got round me, pulled me through and I think I did well after that."

Rotherham midfielder Joe Newell tells Sky Sports:

"Shrewsbury have had an unbelievable year. To come here twice and lose you have to feel sorry for them.

"All the lads - we love each other and fight for each other - deserved it."

This is the Cinderella Story of the 92. This is a team that were dead and bruried 18 months ago - they've been resurrected by Paul Hurst and turned into a team the fans can be proud of.

Town will want this to be the beginning of something, rather than the end. To an extent, losing in a play-off final is always an opportunity missed - but could this be the last time we see this team, that we see Hurst here?

His side have mixed it this season with the three teams that came down from the Championship last season - all three of those have gone straight back up, which says something about the advantages those teams have.

Shrewsbury's promotion dream is shattered in a season in which they have entertained and enthralled. Town have given so, so much and this is heartbreak.

This was so cruel - and they have to taken in another so cruel, painful, demoralising defeat at Wembley after a season in which they have been so outstanding. It's just so hard to take that this is the fifth defeat from five for Shrewsbury at Wembley.

This season will never be forgotten at Town. To get 87 points on the board and not go up was heartbreaking. In any other season, they'd have been up, up and away.

Rotherham are up on the Wembley balcony and lift the trophy.

Captain Richard Wood has a celebratory top hat on as he and manager Paul Warne lift the trophy among a mattering of glittering confetti.

The trophy is then passed down the line of players to the cheers of the Rotherham fans.

Rotherham goalscorer Richard Wood tells Sky Sports:

"I'm speechless. Unbelievable. The scenes now are what it's all about.

"It was terrible last season, losing every week, but to turn it around like we have done the manager deserves great credit for that. He's a great guy.

"I saw my children crying up in the stands - that's how much it means and I'm just pleased to do it for them."

Rotherham's victory today means it is the first time since 2007 that three relegated teams from one league have been promoted the very next season in the EFL.

The Millers join League One champions Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers in bouncing straight back to the Championship.

Hartlepool United, Swindon Town and Walsall were relegated from League One in 2005-06 and promoted from League Two in 2006-07.

Rotherham manager Paul Warne tells Sky Sports:

"It's been a good day at the office. I'll have more sleepless nights now thinking about playing teams like Aston Villa.

"I'm really proud of my group of lads and backroom staff. It was a horrendous 12 months for everyone last year so for all the fans who made the effort to come down today it was worth it.

"We kept the players we wanted to keep, we recruited young, hungry players and everyone played their part."

Rotherham make an immediate return to the Championship, but it is a fifth defeat for Shrewsbury from their five trips to Wembley.

You have to feel for the Town players and fans after they finished third and missed out on automatic promotion.

Their wait for second-tier football will go into a 30th year.

The tension in the last 10 minutes of normal time was unbearable. The tension here is unwatchable.

To end in two Wembley final defeats is as cruel as I've ever known this game. This team have done so much and performed so far above expectations.

The ball is pinging around on the edge of the Rotherham area, but they scramble it clear.
