Tranmere Rovers beat Boreham Wood in today's Wembley meeting - but they did it the hard way.

Rovers had defender Liam Ridehalgh sent off in the first minute for a lunging challenge, but Micky Mellon's side prevailed despite playing almost all of the match with 10 men.

James Norwood scored Rovers' winner to confirm their return to League Two after three seasons outside the EFL.

Mile Jedinak's header gave Aston Villa a one-goal lead going into the home leg of their Championship play-off semi-final against Middlesbrough.

Elsewhere today, the League One tie between Scunthorpe and Rotherham ended in a 2-2 draw.

There were some other big games in the play-offs today too. And we did have some goals...

Talking of no goals....

Today's first League Two play-off semi-final first leg between Lincoln and Exeter ended goalless.

It looked like Tom Bayliss wasn't the intended target but he gets in on the right-hand side of Notts County's defence and just plays the ball across the face of goal. It was neither a cross or a shot.

A bright free-kick by the Sky Blues. They work the ball short, play it in to Marc McNulty's feet and the Scot turns and hits an effort wide.
