  1. Last-gasp winnerpublished at 07:46 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

And how's this for a break by Belgium? Nacer Chadli got the finishing touch but what a ball by Kevin de Bruyne. And he won't even get an assist for that!

  2. Did he mean it?published at 07:44 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

This goal by Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen brought Belgium back into it. Did he mean it? I certainly think so. He could see that the Japan goalkeeper was darting about all over his six-yard box.

  3. What a comeback!published at 07:38 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

Even if you did see last night's game, it's worth seeing again. It looked like another big name might be crashing out as Japan led 2-0, but what a comeback by Belgium!

I don't know about 'party'. Isn't knockout football just about making sure you get through?

But don't get me wrong, if England are five up by half-time, as they were against Panama, I might be getting a bit giddy!

Well, normally we call this the back pages but given the magnitude of this game, and the mood across the nation, there's a couple of front pages worth looking at too, beginning with the Express.

We've already had six last-16 ties to whet the appetite, with Brazil and Belgium joining the party yesterday.

We will have a look at how they booked their place in the quarter-finals but first let's have a look at the British newspapers on a big day for English football.

Good morning and thanks for joining me on a day which could be the start of something special for England fans.

Or will it be another tale of woe to add to the umpteen years of hurt?

In case you've been on Mars the last few days, the knockout stage of the World Cup continues today, with England playing Colombia this evening (19:00 BST).
