    Costa Rica 2-0 Northern Ireland

We will have seen three quarters of the teams in Group E at the World Cup by the end of play, as Costa Rica will come up against Brazil and Switzerland. Serbia complete the set.

Costa Rica got to the quarter finals four years ago. Will they get out of that group?

    Costa Rica 2-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Red Button

Northern Ireland were caught napping right from the restart. Daniel Colindres is given far too much room and Joel Campbell slides it into the net.

It's an easy goal but poor defending again. They have gone to sleep at the back and it's going to be a long 45 minutes.

    Joel Campbell

More poor defending, and not great goalkeeping either, as Costa Rica double their lead in the first minute of the second half! Johan Venegas has the ball on the left of the area and works it across, Daniel Colindres lets the ball run and Joel Campbell is free, about 12 yards out, to clip a low shot though Trevor Carson and into the net.

Apparently it's 25C in San Jose but will feel much hotter pitchside of course. There was a scheduled drinks break midway through the first half.

Andrew: Aaron Hughes will be feeling it in that heat! The man is only 7 caps off big Pat Jennings’ appearance record, he’s been about a while!

Matt: Bryan Ruiz sat on the Costa Rica bench. Waiting for Mike Ashley's helicopter to try and collect him...

Can Northern Ireland fight back to get a result here? They looked well short of attacking options for most of that first half.

  10. 'We have produced nothing going forward'published at 18:59 British Summer Time 3 June 2018

HT: Costa Rica 1-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Red Button

Overall Costa Rica have been the slightly better team. They got the goal and had a few other chances whereas we have produced nothing going forward.

Michael O'Neill has got to ask himself if he wants to put the young players on or if he wants to try and retrieve the situation.

  11. Campbell goes closerpublished at 18:59 British Summer Time 3 June 2018

    Costa Rica 1-0 Northern Ireland

This is Joel Campbell's 77th cap. He has been away from Arsenal on loan since 2011, almost exclusively.

    Spain v Switzerland (20:00 BST)

Spain name a strong side, although Real Madrid quartet Sergio Ramos, Dani Carvajal, Isco and Marco Asension are all rested after their run to the Champions League final.

David Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta both start.

Xherdan Shaqiri - still of Stoke for now - starts for the Swiss.

This is Spain's first World Cup warm-up, and their first match since they smashed Argentina 6-1 (SIX!) back in March.

They've not even picked Cesc Fabregas, Alvaro Morata, Marcos Alonso, Hector Bellerin...

Quite impressed by Costa Rica so far, great delivery into the box from both wing backs Oviedo and Gamboa. Pretty clear they’ll miss Bryan Ruiz massively though if he’s not fully fit come June 17.

  17. CLOSE!published at 43 mins

    Costa Rica 1-0 Northern Ireland

It's pretty slow paced for sure James, Aaron Hughes running in the midday Costa Rican sun is going about as well as you'd imagine.

Joel Campbell saunters past the former Fulham man and bends a low shot inches wide! Almost two.

    Costa Rica 1-0 Northern Ireland

I think we are struggling a bit in the heat and we will be glad to get to half-time. We have been giving the ball away a bit more in the last five minutes.
