  4. 'Neymar and Salah's time'published at 17:31 British Summer Time 3 June 2018

    Brazil 2-0 Croatia

Brazil's Philippe Coutinho has been talking up Neymar and former Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah post match:

"It feels like the right moment for someone to take their chance at this World Cup," he said. Coutinho.

"Messi and Ronaldo have been up there on their own for so many years. I think it may be time for other players to aspire to be the best in the world - and the best at this World Cup, too.

"For me, Salah and Neymar have serious chances to do that. It depends on how the tournament goes, of course, but they have the talent to do it. Those are the players I would pick out."

It was nice to see Neymar back and scoring a superb goal. But when I think of great Brazil goals this one always sits at the top of the pile for me. What do you think?

The Brazil manager Tite does not like to sing individual praises too much, but I doubt he will be able to stick to that line after Neymar changed the course of the game for his team in Liverpool.

The PSG man set Brazil on their way with a exceptional goal after being sidelined for over two months and this is a huge relief for a team that lost captain Dani Alves to injury.

Brazil now head to Vienna to play Austria on 10 June before travelling to their World Cup base in Sochi.

If Neymar needed to announce that he was ready for the World stage again he managed it in emphatic fashion - scoring a brilliant goal on his comeback from injury as Brazil started their World Cup preparations with a win over Croatia at Anfield.

What a nice way to finish off for Brazil who sparkled in patches but still look as though they will need their game against Austria next Sunday to get in full flow before the World Cup.

Today's opponents Croatia looked very useful at times especially when Luka Modric and Ante Rebic were on the pitch.

    Roberto Firmino

How's your composure? Just fine answers Brazil's Roberto Firmino who gets his goal on his home ground. A wonderful lofted pass from Danilo picked him out and then it was just a case of drawing the keeper out and dinking the ball over him.

    That was cool.

Many people in Brazil reckon Roberto Firmino has earned a place in the starting XI after a great club season. Tite has already said, though, that he would only use Firmino in a central role.

A first sight of goal for Brazil's Roberto Firmino, who escapes club teammate Dejan Lovren but skews his shot wide from an angle. That could've made for some healthy training ground banter.

Well, Brazil’s modern day top scorer leaves his mark once again. Neymar now has 54 goals for Brazil and needs one more to reach Romario as the third most prolific Selecao star of all time.

Only Pele and Ronaldo are ahead of him.
