There were rumours on transfer deadline day, emanating of course from social media, suggesting that Graham Potter might be ready to walk away from the Swans just weeks after taking charge.

Potter missing his press conference appearance only added fuel to the fire.

However, the rumours were untrue and Potter is at the Liberty Stadium for the visit of Preston. He is going nowhere.

West Brom's return to the Championship began in disappointing fashion, as they lost at home to Bolton and then laboured for most of their midweek match at Nottingham Forest.

But after being second best for most of that game at the City Ground, the Baggies' spirits were lifted by the debut performance of on-loan striker Dwight Gayle from the bench, who struck the woodwork twice either side of Matt Phillips' thumping late leveller.

Today, Darren Moore's side go in search of their first win, away to Norwich.

They'll be looking to bounce straight back against visitors Brentford today.

But the Bees are in a confident mood after thrashing Rotherham 5-1 last Saturday.

BBC Sport Wales at Liberty Stadium

Swansea's Supporters' Trust issued a statement after transfer deadline day pointing out the Swans have been left with a "wafer-thin" squad.

They have sold four senior central defenders, Kyle Bartley, Federico Fernandez, Jordi Amat and Alfie Mawson, leaving them looking very short indeed.

The fans, they are not happy.

    Swansea v Preston (15:00 BST)

Graham PotterImage source, Huw Evans Picture Agency

Yes, as 'The Frog Butler' alludes to there, while recently-relegated Swansea got off to a winning start under Graham Potter with a late win at Sheffield United last time out, it hasn't been a perfect summer for the Swans off the field.

The Welsh club's owners have defended criticism of their transfer dealings, after 12 players left during the transfer window.

Nevertheless, can Swansea make it two wins from two when they host a well-organised Preston outfit today?

  11. 'Let's get to work' - Grealishpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

Aston Villa v Wigan (15:00 BST)

All summer, Villa playmaker Jack Grealish was strongly linked with a big-money transfer to Tottenham.

But no move materialised and the 22-year-old has kept his place in the Villa side today.

As the transfer deadline passed, he posted this on social media, to the delight of Villa fans (and perhaps the disappointment of today's visitors to Villa Park, Wigan).

On Tuesday, four Championship teams played their second fixtures of the season and we were treated to some cracking football.

The best of the action came in a thrilling final 15 minutes at the City Ground, where West Brom hit back late on to draw 1-1 at Nottingham Forest, who had deservedly led through Adlene Guedioura's deflected effort from 25 yards.

The Baggies hit the woodwork twice in the closing stages, after Guedioura nearly scored from inside his own half!

Meanwhile, Middlesbrough ran out 3-0 winners at home to Sheffield United, as the Blades began the season with two straight losses.
